Not the point of my comment.

My only issue in this entire situation has been with the media. How the media has handled this is the only thing I have, or will, comment upon.

OK, but whether the media reports it or not, the police always take the gun involved as evidence, even in suicide cases. And you have a hassle getting it back. Every once in a while the police used to have an auction, now they just melt them down, or keep them for drop weapons or whatever. I don't think the NBPP got any usefull intel from that report.
