Now that Romney’s got the nomination all but sewn up, FOX News is starting to attack him more than they ever did. This weekend on the Campaign Insiders (Sunday 5:30) Cadell, Schoen, and the conservative spent about 10 minutes just railing into him for gaffes, bad polls, etc. Cadell said the Republicans might need to can him at the convention because there’s no law that says they have to commit political suicide.

Now tonight O’Reilly is openly mocking him for the car elevator thing. Juan Williams says he was enjoying seeing them tear up Romney.

Seems like FOX’s plan all along was to hand Obama the election by shoving the worst possible candidate down our throat by giving him sweetheart coverage until he got the nomination, and then bashing him from that point on. It seems more and more plausible that both the Republican party and the media they’re most in bed with desired this outcome.

As some have theorized, they may think the country’s in a hopeless position and is going to get worse before it’s better, and they want that to happen on Obama’s watch. Or it may be just self-serving. They can have a lot more fat and happy party members if they pack the Congress while letting a Democrat president take the blame for everything.

If Romney loses after he was shoved down our throats, the DC GOP must either be removed and replaced by real conservatives or there will be a third party. Romney will have my vote if nominated, but he may be the last republican I vote for. A loss means a new start.

Possibly they see Romney as the "least scary" Republican in terms of the independent vote which they're counting on to win veto-proof majorities in the House and Senate. That's the only explanation that makes any sense to me.

I think the Republican Establishment has always viewed Comrade Obama as unbeatable by any of the current candidates. With a Republican Congress there's a chance of heading off the Dictator's legislative takeover at the proverbial pass. Of course with Executive Orders ("Stroke of the pen, law of the land. Pretty cool," in the words of Paul Begala, advisor to President Clinton), that explanation makes less and less sense. That's especially true in terms of the Comrade's warning today about the power of an "unelected" Supreme Court.

The old Chinese curse says: "May you live in interesting times." We do.
