Brewers, 'Dancing' cut in on Tuesday night election coverage (WI)

Tuesday will be tough sledding for anyone with difficulty keeping more than one thought in his or her head at the same time.

Because three events - sports, entertainment and political - will be vying for our attention.

Primary among them is a primary election with the still unsettled race for the Republican presidential nomination and various local races on the ballot. Add a recall vote later this spring and the state's likely status as a battleground in this fall's presidential election, and the national news media is drawn like mice to the cheese state.

Ed Schultz, host of MSNBC's "The Ed Show," will preview the election with a live telecast from downtown Madison's Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co. Monday at 7 p.m. The public is invited but seating is limited.

Schultz - who hosted his show from Madison during last year's budget protests - will tape an MSNBC promo while there.

Fox News Channel will cover the Wisconsin, Washington, D.C., and Maryland primary results on "Special Report With Bret Baier," at 10 p.m. Tuesday. Midwest correspondent Steve Brown will be reporting from the state, and political correspondent Carl Cameron will be following Mitt Romney

Local audiences looking for local-centric reporting on local news outlets will find varying degrees of coverage.

Wisconsin politics are at a boil not seen for years, and we are seeing a preview of this fall’s general elections. The “anti-campaign” being run against Scott Walker and several Republican members of the state Senate is an example of this schizophrenia that is gripping the “Progressives” of Wisconsin. But the fact remains, you can’t beat somebody with nobody, and Scott Walker has proven to be a “somebody”.

Because the primary in Wisconsin is “open”, or available to anyone who walks into the polling station, a lot of non-Republicans can “cross over” and vote in the Republican primary. For that reason, many politicians have found the primary vote in Wisconsin to be a graveyard, as it takes a lot of gamesmanship to navigate the playing field.

Just a note on the side - there wasn’t even an organized Democrat party in Wisconsin until about 1948. Always before, politics had been divided between the old-line stalwart Republicans who were devoted to the memory of William Howard Taft, and Progressive Republicans who tied their fortunes to Teddy Roosevelt and the La Follette family of Wisconsin. This latter faction also embraced both the fascism of Benito Mussolini (”he made the trains run on time”), and the more international form of socialism as expressed by Lenin, Marx and Stalin.

That the forces of fascism and communism fell to fighting, was part of the schizophrenia that today grips the heirs to the “Progressives”. And it does not promise to improve any time soon.

Excellent description of what is going on here in WI. This IS the battleground for da union thug / dems. If they lose here against what they think is a weak link Walker they are fearing being doomed further in November and will pull out all the stops between now and then. Don’t think this Trayvon Martin gig isn’t all part of it.

Connect the dots folks. This is a national Dem / lefty / progressive effort to squash anyone like Walker. Turns out Walker is a quiet HUGE and WONDERFULLY STRONG force to be reckoned with. Isn’t that just a big, big surprise for little old Wisconsin.

We dumped Feingold and gave the senat our terrific Ron Johnson. We have provided Paul Ryan - a yound wonderful (although I don’t like him being probably threatened into backing mittens IMHO) and Sensenbrenner and we elected Governor Scott Walker along with both state houses going republican. NOW we’ve faced one recall election against the senators - lost some, one threatened so much she quit, now the massive statewide recall wasting millions of state money for the Governor recall June 5.

Sorry for rambling on - but this stuff IS important. Get off your fanny folks - it’s OUR duty to defend the constitution and our freedom is at stake.

As some say here on FR - this IS hugh and series.

Let’s do it! Find out how you can help and DO IT!
