Isn’t it true that the Governor’s appointment powers in Massachusetts are very limited?

Admin,

Can you fix the title?

It should be

Court appointments, gun rights, cap-and-trade, gay marriage, obamacare, taxes, bailouts....

I don’t trust Romney on ANY damn issue.

Can he be trusted to appoint conservatives?

No, because he has never appointed one in the past.

Could Santorum?

He is the ONE candidate running who voted to confirm the woman chosen first by Obama for the Supreme Court. Santorum for Sotomayor. What's that say about him?

He can be trusted- to act as a gun-grabbing socialist liberal.

One thing is for sure, anyone Romney would choose would be better than Sotomayor or Kagan.

In MA, the governor appoints judges with the "advice and consent" of the Governor's Council, a body of 8 elected officials. IIRC, Mitt never fought for a conservative. IIRC, Mitt never "fought" for anything except not to have Jim Rappaport as Lt. Gov.

Romney talks as if his hands were tied -- but that's how he always talks when he wants to do something liberal (cf. gay marriage). Hard to believe a governor with conservative convictions couldn't have done a bit of arm-twisting or such if it were important to him.

“One thing is for sure, anyone Romney would choose would be better than Sotomayor or Kagan.”

That says it all for me. Do you want Obama appointing more judges? Or Romney? Not a perfect option by any means, but a dart in the phone book beats Obama for me.

That says it all for me. Do you want Obama appointing more judges? Or Romney? Not a perfect option by any means, but a dart in the phone book beats Obama for me.

Liberty Counsel Action Vice President Matt Barber said Romney’s appointments were constitutional “living document” poster children.

“Many of Romney’s appointments were not only liberal, not only Democrats, but were radical counter-constitutionalists. How on earth can we expect that, as president, he would be any different?” Barber asked rhetorically.

“Actions speak louder than words, and Mitt Romney’s actions as governor scream from the rooftops that he cannot be trusted with this most important of presidential responsibilities.”

Barber cites two specific examples of Romney’s radical appointments.

“As governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney not only failed in this regard, he appointed a number of very liberal, if not radical, ‘living, breathing’-minded judges to the bench,” Barber said.

“Two that come to mind were extreme homosexualists Marianne C. Hinkle and Stephen Abany,” he said. “They both had a long history of pro-gay activism, yet Romney didn’t hesitate to put them on the bench.”

“These are people who outrageously believe the postmodern notion that newfangled ‘gay rights’ trump our constitutionally guaranteed First Amendment rights,” he said.

What was that you were saying again?

Romney has appointed radical liberals in the past, so why would you prefer him over Obama???

If you throw a dart in the phone book and it lands on the same target as Obama has it that any better???
