Minister Malik Shabazz made headlines when he made this impassioned remark at a Detroit financial review meeting on Monday: "This is white supremacy, and we will fight you. Before you can take over our city, we will burn it down first." Shabazz is upset that Governor Rick Snyder will appoint an emergency manager to run the city of Detroit if it cannot find a way to restructure the budget.

Truth be told, let them burn it down.
That would be the kindest thing they could do to a city that was the murder capital of the US for years, slums, and drug dealers. Or, if they want their city so badly all aide from white people should stop and the black community be made to care for itself. They wouldn’t last long.

Let him burn it. BUT no federal money for rebuilding it once it’s burned. The city of Bridgeport CT was burned in the 60s and it never recovered to this day , despite fed and state money being poured in over the years.
If they burn it down, it will be easier to bring in the bulldozers, level the area, and start over.
What’s the downside? If they destroy Detroit (what’s left of it), we’ll all pony up the money to rebuild it and give them new goodies anyway.
I wonder if this “Minister” Shabazz got his title via mail order?

Burning down Detroit may be the first best solution. It’s a dung heap and should torch rather easily.

Too late. Camden holds the honor of being the first place. You would think after the first one, they would have learned by now.
I’m reminded of a SimCity scenario where you had 10 years to get crime down in Detroit. I tried everything, adding more police departments, parks and so on, but all it did to me was made me short of cash. I got so ticked off that I just decided to save the nice part of they city, a tiny but still functioning, area. The rest of the city I wrote off. I closed police stations and fire station and bulldozed them to save money, cut roads to a bare minimum, only repaired the roads in the tiny section I saved as well as kept police and fire. I then set fire to the rest of the city, watching out burn out into rubble. It took so long, the 10 years were up. I drove so many people out in those section by doing that, I DID cut the crime rate to a small fraction that it was and I WON the game. I kept going, did some rebuilding at a sensible pace and kept things running well. I think maybe that’s what Detroit needs. I told my father about it, he sometimes games a little too, he said, “I guess the Janet Reno approach does work.” B-) BTW, if it was today, it would be like “The Shabazz Approach.” However, I don’t think Mr. Shabazz has a rebuilding plan after things are reduced to rubble like I had.
