The shooting took place at 7:20 PM or thereabouts, not wee hours. Otherwise, your post is right on. Zimmerman's suspicion was not unreasonable, and he showed tremdous restraint, taking a beating for a minute or so before his sidearm became unconcealed (not because he was drawing it).

I have to ask, since the neighborhood watch was out at 7:20 PM, is that after dark there at that time of year? (It makes a tremendous difference at the latitude I live at, so I thought I’d ask.)
