Once again I am disgusted and upset that when “plans change and a helpless and dependent animal becomes inconvenient to his family, the phrase “put down” is used. Kids can be inconvenient too Hope and pray this beautiful dog finally gets his ‘forever’ home with people who will truly love him this time around.

And what would you do if you were told you had to move overseas in 4 days? Should I leave my husband? Oh, maybe the real kind thing to do would be to abandon the dog on the street or drop him in a field /sarc. My dog is at my side all day long except the few hours I run errands. Like I don’t already have a dagger in my heart.
What a freakin' putz you are to say such words to the OP. You disgust me. Your compassion extends to your elbow.
This dog is obviously well-loved. Socialized, not so much. But I don't blame it on the owner. Some just don't take, and I've had a couple. You just deal with it.
No way do I take that these folks don't love this dog. They're trying the best to assure he finds a good home, because they love him. As an add on, he sounds like he'd make a great police dog if there's a precinct that might want to adopt him.
Completely out of line and beyond the pale.
You find a way to deal with the problem other then killing it or abandoning it, it is part of the family.
Don’t be an ass. This is a fair bit more than a “change of plans”, this is a complete and total disruption of someone’s life with zero warning and zero alternative.
They’re trying, at least, and with enough scolding and shaming the next person in a fix might well decide to “quietly deal with the problem” without trying rather than be shredded.
