Republicans worried about their partys standing with Hispanic voters have launched an election-year scramble to put a better face on their partys immigration problem.
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the son of Cuban immigrants, is working with senators from other immigrant-heavy states like Jon Kyl of Arizona and Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas on their own version of the DREAM Act to help undocumented children. Kyl and Hutchison have held several closed-door meetings with a key Democrat to see whether theres bipartisan support for a compromise plan. Republicans are also exploring changes in visa rules to attract more high-skilled workers and tourists. But above all, key Republicans are pushing a change in rhetoric, urging Mitt Romney to shift tactics away from the strident comments hes made during the primary season in hopes of convincing Hispanic voters that Republicans will give immigrants a fair deal.

Politico....isn’t that that publication put out by the Washington Compost?
In my Dream, everyone would obey the law, including those who wish to immigrate. That’s why it’s just a dream.
We don’t need a third party. We need a party to REPLACE the GOP. It has outlived its usefulness.
Not that I don't think that Republicans unnecessarily pander to certain ethnic groups.
I'm just saying whatever is being proposed may not be as bad as Politico wants us to believe.
But, then, I could be wrong.
Facts are facts. You just know rino John Kyl and rino Kay Bailey Hutchinson would try something like a republican Dream Act. Worse for us real conservatives, they have Marco Rubio on their side. He is obviously being corrupted.
the only things Latinos are gonna revolt against are Obama and black people if they feel Zimmerman is being railroaded.
Race politics is a left wing game played under left wing home field advantage with union umps reading from a left wing rule book completely open to their interpretation on the spot.
Good luck guys. LOL
How is helping the children of stupid illegal immigrant parents anti-conservative? Some people have a lot to learn about what being conservative is all about.
In my dream everyone could live anywhere on Earth they please.
You can have open borders, you can have a welfare state, but you cannot have both.
Thank the 17th Ammendment for that.
Would it help that the Hill also reports the same thing?

If Latinos want to live in fear of the Black Panthers, they should stick with Democrats. Maybe they should hang out with Zimmerman’s parents for a few days before they make up their minds.
La Raza has already thrown Zimmerman under the bus. Entitlements are more important to them it seems.
With the current demographic trajectory, the GOP will eventually cease to exist as a national party, anyway. It’ll remain as a regional entity, but won’t pose much of a threat to the ruling democrats.
Along with urupation of the Southwest by Mexico.
You're right - we need to leave that game to corrupt dems. Then again, if Latinos want to hang with Zimmerman's parents for a few days... might open their eyes.
LOL. Not really.
Perhaps a link to a HuffPo or DailyKos piece would convince me.
No, but, seriesly, I am just saying I would take this with a grain of salt.
I notice in your own comment that begins the thread you say, "if this is true...".
So, deep, deep, deep down inside, you have your own reservations. Which is a good thing.
I call those innate stirrings my "Spidey senses".
Why should they be helped in the first place? If they get free tuition for school that is cronyism. Everybody who is legal has to pay. If they get citizenship, then who is to say others won’t be next demanding they get citizenship the nonlegal way. And what if people try to cheat the system?
The DREAM Act perpetuates the problem it claims to solve and penalizes citizens and legal immigrants. Once they become citizens, illegal immigrants could petition for their parents to be legalized. The parents could then bring in others in an endless chain.
This would undoubtedly encourage more illegal immigration. If the United States grants amnesty to those who were brought here illegally by their parents without first enforcing our immigration laws, we will have to deal with this problem again in the future.
Now I can’t say a GOP version would the exact same as the DNC version. But it sure won’t be that much different.
