Rep. Paul Ryan endorses Mitt Romney
The Hill ^ | March 30, 2012 | Justin Sink

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) is expected to endorse Republican frontrunner Mitt Romney before Wisconsin's GOP primary next Tuesday, according to media reports.

Ryan would be the latest in a string of high-profile endorsements for Romney this week, as party leaders have increasingly coalesced around the former Massachusetts governor's campaign. The Wisconsin lawmaker would join popular freshman Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and former president George H. W. Bush in signaling support for Romney this week.

There’s not much ‘courage’ in these endorsements at this point in time. Politicos staking out the usual ‘safe territory’.

“Oh where have you gone Tea Party, where have you gone?”

Regardless of what everyone states about the Tea Party, that it is not one person (which is true), they do need a leader to inspire the party.....Like her or not, Palin brings attention and excitement to a race like no one including Obama......We are going to lose this election, it’s not Palin’s fault, but I think everyone would have been more energized with her involvement.....It’s a damn shame........I really think she had a shot if she would have run......Romney?...ARE YOU KIDDING?......Santorum?...Would vote for him if he were to get the nomination......Newt?.....Would vote for him too, but I don’t think his nomination will happen.....And all these TEA PARTY a@@holes who were bought off to endorse Romney: Haley, Rubio, ect. make me puke......

When Palin endorses Romney, I’ll sit back and watch more freeper heads explode. Then I will crawl over broken glass to vote against Obama.

>>The Tea Party folks endorsing Romney are an indication that he is going to have to govern more towards the right.

That’s nothing more than wishful thinking. Once he attains office, he can do as he pleases. Romney will govern to the left; that is simply his nature.

This just goes to show that if real conservatism is to be salvaged as a viable political force in this country, it will be does without any help from the current set of career politicians in Washington, even the so-called "conservative" ones.

I can’t believe how it’s only March 30th, the convention isn’t until August, and basically, you’re giving up. THIS is the presentation the GOP-e is making to get conservatives to give up. In your case it looks like they’re succeeding.

I AM NOT GIVING UP! Have you read my tagline - it's new as of this morning... I am trying to understand why this is happening, in hopes of figuring out a way to counter it...

I am very honored and pleased that you took me to task though, I really like that!! Kick some butt - people are going to go faint for a bit, but they can be "bucked up"... and kicked in the butt if need be!

Conservatives want Reagan. The HIGHLIGHT REEL Reagan. Not a candidate with a blemish here or less than perfect record there, which was Reagan, and would be Palin, Newt, Cain, Perry, and lots of others that would have run if we didnt have such a stick up our rears sometimes.

I'm not gonna vote for anyone who has EVER done ANYTHING that I didn't like EVER at some point in their previous 30-year career in politics!

Maybe as recently as yesterday, I would have had a few qualifyiers for that statement, but today, all I can say is it looks like you are absolutely correct. So what was 2010 all about then?

You know, a very wise Freeper, and I wish I could remember their name, because it made a great impact on me, once said: Fully 90% of the politicians that go to Washington are corrupted and co-opted in their first year, and that is the rate for the Tea Party, also. The last 10%, it takes a few more years - think deMint.

What has happened, is Romney has received more votes in the primaries than the others.

-"But my Romney terror meter is just a hair below Obama..."

I fully understand. I'm the same way myself now. However, we can check back with each other come Sep 1, because when the real ground war begins, and the incessant incoming shelling starts (complete with neutron exploding racial/socialist ferocity), there won't be any psychological pangs in our minds about any 'Sketch'.

This thread sounds like a pitty party. The people who are being dumped on are great Americans who have done more for the conservative cause than anyone here. So, pick up your marbles and go home. The rest of us are going to kick Obams out of office without your help.

I will tell you when I feel there is absolutely no hope, that will be when Mark Levin endorses romney before the primaries are over... I think that will cause me some real despair.

(1) Ryan isn't as smart as he'd like for you to believe.

(2) Ryan and his buddies imagine it's possible to win a Presidential election without volunteer "GET OUT THE VOTE" folks. That particular theory is the primary reason why Romney really has had a tough time getting 50% except in captive areas with large numbers of Mormons. (or where MIttbots have flat out cheated).

(3) He's in fear of the Gadianton warriors.

You should probably direct this question to those that voted for Romney in the primaries. The only problem is, no one on this forum voted for him, so you probably won’t find out the real reason by asking freepers.

It is self-serving. Nothing more.

I prefer to think it is pragmatism. We know Romney is going to be the candidate. We need to a) get him elected and b) when he is POTUS, surround him with sound, capable people like Ryan who just might prevent him from becoming Obama II. Obama surrounded himself with marxist "tsars" and look what we got. It would be much better for all of us and the nation if Romney surrounded himself with people like Ryan. Just maybe we could steer the ship off the looming rocks.

So what was 2010 all about then?

Tricking the rank-and-file base into infusing a little fresh blood into the Washington GOP-E.

we’re being pragmatic. I’m a Sarah Palin supporter but she’s not running. Then I was for Herman Cain and we know how that worked out. Newt has flamed out on me as well, so I’m left with the only choice of supporting romney. I don’t especially like it but he’s 100000% better than the racist communist we currently have.

Yet another falls to the lure of the gracious defeat.

I guess they’re just hoping for the political cover of saying, “see, I supported the moderate.”

That's one of the few good things in all this, They have NO political cover any longer as far as conservatives go... they have shown their true colors... we have taken note.

There has to be more than that to it - there has to be - I worked my heart and soul out in 2010 - I mean everything I had. that is what got me involved in this presidential election. If what you say is true, I am not sure what that will mean to me...
