Add to the list Sheila Jackson Lee, Maxine Waters and Bobby Rush, to name but a few. The blacks don't seem to mind that their spokeshomies are all illiterate.
It used to be the exact opposite. Those of us (barely) old enough to remember can't explain what happened. When I was a teen in the mid-1970's, my mother said that she and others noticed that "something" had changed in the community. Academic and personal excellence was waning. I suspect that with welfare and the influx of liberal teachers into all-black schools, a perfect storm was created and "talking white" became discouraged.
