Simply biting into one causes the mouth to draw up tighter than a rusty bumper bolt making eating impossible. Brings to mind memories of youth...a large, gnarled persimmon tree in the woods behind the neighborhood. Many neighborhood-kid dares were issued to bite into those green ones. Of course, it was also a pleasure to visit the tree when they were ripened and "just right".

Nothing like the wild ones for flavor. The other treat I used to find was the paw-paw. Nothing like it!
