As much oil as there is around those islands expect worse relations to come.

Yes, Paperclip brought many German scientists and technicians to the US. In fact, most of the WWII allies took a share of German scientists. The Argentinians, however, turned their country into a Club Med for escaped Nazis.

You are correct. But Werhner Von Braun or a Reihard Gehlen were not an Eagle Scouts either. They had a very checkered pasts too.

I am not denying that those two men, and others, had checkered pasts. All I am saying is that while the US, UK, and Russia swept-up a number of German scientists (a number of whom were not angels), Argentina became a retirement village to vast numbers of Nazis.

The news is likely to further strain the poor relations...Don't know why. The Argentinians started a war...they would have deserved what they got.

Why did the Argentinians open their arms to so many Nazis? Is that what you are asking?

they were impresssionable and didn’t understand the more evil aspects of NS phil. as preached by the race theorists.
plus the uniforms were most impressive. in Chile they used
German WWII helmets on parade during the gentle and enlightened rule of Gen Pinochet and his entourage...

Wow. Those RAF Vulcans would have bombed Argentina’s beef industry to well done in a heartbeat.
Seems the Brits don’t forget not only who their enemies were, but their enemies’ enablers as well.
When I was stationed in Germany in the early 1980’s we were told that the British Army of the Rhine was there not only to keep an eye on the Soviets, but on the Germans as well.
And ask any Briton old enough to remember just what they still think of the Japanese. No PC, I assure you.

They do not forget their long military history.
