I can't link because the article comes from the Detroit Press. PM me for the link.
Basically the Hutaree members were acquitted from all but the weapons charges. According to the judge, many things the defendants said were quite offensive. "But so what?" the judge said.
please send me the link
What’s a “Hutaree”?
I never forgot this case. The Holder DoJ got their use out of them, the gov’t just wanted to post pictures of White Christians as terrorists on the evening news at the exact same time the gov’t/media complex was trying to pin a violent act on the Tea Partyers. Any Freepers know what happended to that Christian sect in I think TX who had their kids taken away?
From a radio news clip summary ...Judge said it was hard to see how free speech crossed the line into a criminal offense
Whats a Hutaree?
*******************************************
That’s the so called “white Christian group” on which the Justice department spent lots of money in an attempt to manufacture a crime. More BS from Homeland Security and the Justice Dept related to their attempts to distract attention from the REAL THREATS to national security.
many things the defendants said were quite offensive. “But so what?” the judge said.
Honestly, they are a bunch of friends and their families who go together on weekends, hunting and showing off their weapontry. There are a whole bunch of people like them up here in MI. Some are survivalists, some are hunters, most are conservatives and are targeted by the libs.
About the time the arrests happened, my daughters started shooting lessons. The club where they went was all abuzz about these guys. Gun owners up here were watching it very carefully.
DETROIT A federal judge dismissed the most serious charges Tuesday against seven members of a Michigan militia who were rounded up as homegrown extremists accused of plotting war against the U.S., saying their expressed hatred of law enforcement didn't amount to conspiracy against the government. The FBI spent years, and the time of two informants, to try to entrap these Michigan men.
Tina Stone, 46; David Stone Jr., 22; Michael Meeks, 42; Thomas Piatek, 48; and Kristopher Sickles, 29, were aquitted of all charges.
MI ping.
Well, they also a an internet forum and took pictures of themselves with their guns.
But basically, they did just sit around the campfire and talk scat.
There's an easy way to tell that you are being set up on a sting: when somebody (especially somebody you know little about) initiates a discussion with you about doing illegal things. Big red flag.
Various LEO organizations have (I would guess) tens of thousands of people running around trying to entrap people. Somebody gets arrested for something, he's offered a deal where things will go easier on him if he helps get evidence on somebody else. Then that somebody else gets offered a deal, and the cycle repeats. That's what the feds tried to do with Randy Weaver in 1992.
I looked on Bing.
The only other I could see was from the Miami Herald.
Great catch!
Randy Weaver was lured into an illegal transaction by an informant. It is a common tactic.
There is an old joke: How do you tell the FBI informant at the Klan meeting? He’s the guy with the dynamite.
If sitting around talking smack about the govt and law enforcement was a crme half of us freepers would be in jail.
