A top legal analyst predicted Tuesday that the Obama administration's healthcare reform legislation seemed likely to be struck down by the Supreme Court.
Jeffrey Toobin, a lawyer and legal analyst, who writes about legal topics for The New Yorker said the law looked to be in "trouble." He called it a "trainwreck for the Obama administration."
"This law looks like it's going to be struck down. I'm telling you, all of the predictions, including mine, that the justices would not have a problem with this law were wrong," Toobin said Tuesday on CNN. "I think this law is in grave, grave trouble."

Yoda: Trust them I do not
Amen!
This is all very curious. I wonder if Obama’s strategy is to tell his followers, ‘We were defeated, but in my second term I’ll make sure all the loopholes are closed and that the biased Supreme Court can’t deny Americans the healthcare that is rightfully theirs.”
Let us pray...
Better that ObamaCare be in grave grave trouble than citizens being in the graves...
“A top legal analyst predicted Tuesday that the Obama administration’s healthcare reform legislation seemed likely to be struck down by the Supreme Court. “
Baloney.
This guy just wants to drum up some drama. Justice Kennedy gave the biggest clue today when he commented to the effect that healthcare might be different enough to make the mandate constitutional.
Obamacare will survive, count on it.
May it quickly die in peace.
Amen
As usual, it all comes down to Anthony Kennedy. The Gang of Four Lapdogs will reflexively give Obama what he wants.
Obama’s going to claim that the Republicans made him do it, that what he really wanted was single-payer health care, but he tried an approach using private HI companies instead to appease his Republican critics in Congress. But now that the SCOTUS has revealed this to be unconstitutional, the only choice is to go for single-payer. This is a plausible argument to his far left base. Unfortunately, the general public will not buy it: indeed, if they thought that re-electing him was tantamount to voting for single-payer, he would get badly beaten. Who knows what this charlatan will do now? One thing we can be certain: he will blame someone else for what happened.
Speaking of the lapdogs, when Obama is defeated, and the Senate switches to the GOP, Ginsberg will probably retire, and the Senate Dems will ram through a replacement in the lame duck session. They will violate every rule of procedure in getting past filibusters, etc. You watch.
We were defeated, but in my second term Ill make sure all the loopholes are closed and that the biased Supreme Court cant deny Americans the healthcare that is rightfully theirs.
Let’s not forget what will probably be his winning mantra..”The tea party wants to kill your grandma.”
I think the mandate will be struck down, but the rest of the bill will probably survive.
Obama’s entire PARTY and PHILOSOPHY should be in grave, grave trouble.
Trainwreck is the perfectr description of this administration.
If this thing does get knocked down, just how far will 0 fall in the most accomplished presidents list? Will he consider himself even in the top ten?
It means nothing and just gives cover to the pusillanimity of the judiciary
.
You're absolutely right, and the GOPers in the Senate will meekly stand by and let it happen, rationalizing that "elections have consequences."
In a just world, they'd filibuster it and BLOCK every single legislative movement until inauguration day. But they won't.
An Zer0 second term would insure another liberal Justice if he could. Then, the Constitution would be “in grave, grave trouble.”
No matter what happens at SCOTUS, we are very much “in grave, grave trouble”. The fact that:
* USG ever even passed such a law
* No public outrage about this basic aspect: it’s illegal under this law to pay with your own money to receive care which is not allowed by this bill. You will shut up, do it their way, or go to jail.
* USAians voted in a non-eligible and criminally anti-USConstitution president named Obama and is thinking about re-electing him.
* The vast majority of USAians think the Reserve and its MOOTA are good and legal things which haven’t led to recent economic destruction and won’t continue in the near future.
Staring in disbelief.
