The alleged action of a self-appointed neighborhood watchman last month in Sanford, FL significantly contradicts the principles of the Neighborhood Watch Program."

Carmen Caldwell, the Executive Director of Citizens Crime Watch of Miami-Dade: In no program that I have ever heard of does someone patrol with a gun in their pocket. Every city and municipality has their own policies. Here in Miami-Dade we train people only to be the eyes and ears of their communities. Not to follow and most definitely not to carry a weapon.
I was wondering about that.
It sounded like a strange neighborhood watch program I had never heard of, that’s for sure.
I think a number of people are splitting hairs on facts they don’t know.
NW people are not LEO’s and the LEO’s that do come to the meetings - at least around here - stress that point to the individuals. And nowhere do they state that a person arms themselves before going out. Because without a CCW permit the observer would then be breaking the law.
But with a CCW permit - the LEO’s do not state you have to disarm before going out.
I’m not digging on you but this story have taking on a life of it’s own with most stories containing a little fact that gets stretched into every which way to prove somebodies point.
