The United States, European allies and even Israel generally agree on three things about Iran's nuclear program: Tehran does not have a bomb, has not decided to build one, and is probably years away from having a deliverable nuclear warhead.
Those conclusions, drawn from extensive interviews with current and former U.S. and European officials with access to intelligence on Iran, contrast starkly with the heated debate surrounding a possible Israeli strike on Tehran's nuclear facilities.
"They're keeping the soup warm but they are not cooking it," a U.S. administration official said.
Reuters has learned that in late 2006 or early 2007, U.S. intelligence intercepted telephone and email communications in which Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a leading figure in Iran's nuclear program, and other scientists complained that the weaponization program had been stopped.

"Bush's Fault!"
The lefties said that the Russians wouldn’t have the a-bomb for at least 10 years just one year before they detonated one.
They already have enough junk to provide a dirty bomb to terrorists.
Oh...and did I mention these public “reports” are political props, with no basis in reality.
Boy, have I got a deal on real estate with a bayou view down in south Mississippi for these "intel" guys!
That’s because the lefties weren’t aware that the Manhattan Project had traitors passing info to Stalin. Well, other than the lefties not directly involved, anyway. ;’)
I would be worried If all three intelligence agency said the same thing.
Exactly correct re: the picture. Our intel estimates seem to be leaning towards O’s view of the world. We won’t know what Iran is doing or planning until it is far to late
I’m not sure the meter even goes high enough in this case.
Heh... the unnamed Euro, US, and Israeli sources agreeing was put just in the first sentence. The US source (who could be Obama himself for all we’re told) is sure there’s a few years to go; the Euro and Israeli sources say it won’t take that long; and Israel’s position about closing window of opportunity hasn’t changed.
US Intelligence hasn’t gotten a single thing right on Iran since WW2.
Eh? What did we get right before WW2?
Oh c’mon, Reuters, the more we bury our heads in the sand over Iran’s nuclear efforts, the more leverage it gives the politicians to stare expressionlessly into a camera lens and claim they had no idea!
The REST of the world understands what’s going on, it’s only the press nd the politicians who are desperate to avoid having to DO something that seem to be clueless.
And, once Iran aims their nuke in somebody’s direction, the thousands of resulting dead people will be mute testimony to the ambivalence of today’s politicians.
And won't have one for years.
Guess what, it's been years since that was written.
