Here’s how I see this playing out:
If or when it becomes apparent that there was no racial motivation/profiling involved in this case, the focus will turn to talk radio and hate speech.
Recall the Giffords shooting where the kneejerk reaction was that talk radio (Rush, etc.) and campaign symbols (Palin) were to blame. Then when it was learned that the shooter was a schizophrenic sociopath, it made no difference. Obama had that memorial where he sermonized on toning down the hateful rhetoric in personal and civic life.
The same method will be used here. If the racial angle falls apart, then this will become an attack on talk radio and supposed “hate speech”. There will be a huge, televised gathering in Florida somewhere, probably Miami where Obama will again sermonize on how hateful all of us are and how we need to tone it down.
You are right that the left will race bait it even though Zimmerman is Hispanic.
But really what they are after is the stand your ground self defense laws. They want to prosecute and sue every American who defends themselves or their property with a gun. That is the grand prize of the whole dog and pony show.
