They wear them today to hide their face from security cameras. Kinda like a shirt with a ski mask attached.

That's mostly what it is because a lot of blacks don't know where it came from, but with a lot of blacks it is still an ongoing joke on whites.

White in a hood, hating blacks, not acceptable.

Black in a hood, hating whites, acceptable.

It is an in your face that blacks can openly show how much they hate whites and it is OK because whites will say nothing.
