In the nineties I was shopping at a jewelry supply store in San Diego. Standing next to me, a well dressed middle aged woman noticed my bracelet, a heavy 14K solid link chain weighing a few ounces.
She lightly put her finger on the bracelet, looked me in the eye, and said, “You know, some places around here they would chop off your hand to steal that bracelet.”

If you still have the bracelet, I can drive half way to SD to meet you, you GIVE me the bracelet...and I will save your hand.
