Mozart’s last concerto was for clarinet, thanks to his meeting with virtuoso Anton Stadler. This slow movement starts so conventionally that one can guess what the rest of the movement will sound like ahead of time. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s one of the most beautiful things he ever wrote.
