Denvers a nicer place too. Great city with great weather. And not as many unusual people.

Note that the 49ers HQ and practice facility is in Santa Clara, about 45 miles south of San Francisco. Most of the players live down here too. The only time most go up to SF is for games at Candlestick. And starting in 2014, they won't even need to do that since the 49ers will start playing their home games down here.
Santa Clara is a nice, pleasant suburban area with a lot of technology campuses - it's in Silicon Valley after all. Housing prices are not rational, but Manning wouldn't need to care about that. Taxes are also not rational, and that's definitely something anyone who wants to live here must deal with.

Great city with great weather. Lived in Denver for about eight years back in the late 1960's thru mid 1970's. Over New Years '71-'72 I flew out to San Fran to spend a few days with an old Marine buddy I hadn't seen in several years. He had a nice place in Sausalito and being straight had more than his fair share of lovely young lady friends ... we were both bachelors so it was an eventful few days. My point to this overly long story was when I said I was from Denver the people I met seemed genuinely impressed. Now understand if you live in the Bay area, especially Sausalito and Tiburon, it's easy to be a little arrogant. Anyway, it occurred to me that had I said I was from Omaha, or KC, (both nice cities) I'm sure I wouldn't have had the same response. What's more, one of the young ladies (a flight attendant) stopped over in Denver about a month later and we had a nice evening together.
