I don’t have a Facebook, Linkedin or any other social/relationship page.
If I did I would either not tell them about it or tell them it is private and privileged information.
Not gonna do it.
It must be cold and dark in that cave you live in...
Not having any of these things is the best method though.
I have no social network accounts aside from FR. I don’t own a smartphone. I don’t have a laptop. My cave is very bright and well-stocked with private stashes of things that wouldn’t exist if I had social network accounts.
Privacy is tantamount to me.
“They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
I’m VERY safe in my person and my liberty. Someone asks me for my Facebook password in an interview: “Sorry, I don’t have an account.” No other excuses required.
I finally got on FB just to keep up with a brother, nieces, nephews & two cousins, all who live out of town/state. I have to admit, it’s been a good thing, really keeps me in daily touch with them - just seeing pictures, etc. is priceless. My “friends” are all close family only - asking me to see my FB account would be like telling me to bring my family photo albums to an interview for review. I would walk out of an interview before I would let them look at my FB account .... and I am currently unemployed so this is not a hypothetical for me.
Obama’s Labor Dept. is gonna make any employers who did this rue the day.
Unions have figured out that Facebook is a dandy way to organize behind the boss’ back. And their friends in the Obama administration are not gonna let employers get in the way of that.
I am on Linked In, but use it strictly for professional networking. If that becomes a problem, I’ll reconsider my decision.
I avoid FB and its alternatives.
