The Sanford Neighborhood Watch volunteer who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, did not instigate the encounter but has received death threats and moved out of his home, his father told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday.
George Zimmerman, 28, has not been arrested, something that has put him and the Sanford Police Department at the center of a firestorm. Critics say Trayvon, who was visiting family from his home in Miami, was a victim of racial profiling.
Zimmerman's father, 64-year-old Robert Zimmerman of Lake Mary, delivered a one-page letter to the Sentinel on Thursday, saying that the depiction of his son in the media has been cruel and misleading.
George Zimmerman is Hispanic and grew up in a multiracial family, the statement says.
"He would be the last to discriminate for any reason whatsoever ...," the letter says. "The media portrayal of George as a racist could not be further from the truth."
The letter does not provide details about what happened Feb. 26 on a walkway in the gated community where George Zimmerman lives and where Trayvon was visiting. But it does challenge one basic assumption of the family's lawyers: that Zimmerman's intent when he got out of his sport utility vehicle was to confront Trayvon after calling police to report a suspicious person.

And let me say that I don’t think, at this point, that Zimmerman is guilty of murder. He may be guilty of absolutely nothing, legally, but it’s safe to say that if he’d stayed in his truck, none of this would have happened. That he must live with.

I loathe HOAs & Neighborhood Watch programs, so I’m not a fan of Zimmerman. He sounds like a Loser...but he MAY have been a loser in danger. Or not.

I see that you have no intention of letting facts get in the way of “social justice” any more than the W0n in the White House.
This story has no legs with out smearing racist innuendo all over the facts. Political hay lacks nutrient and flavor, but if the White House can just get some race riots going, maybe they will forget that he is a community agitator, puppet for Bill Ayers.
OK. I will say that it “appears” that you have already determined that Zimmerman is guilty and you “appear” to dispute anything posted that disagrees with your preconceived conclusion that he is.
You stated to a poster on this thread that there was no proof that Zimmerman was getting his head pounded or was bleeding.
Are you spending more time disputing those who are tracking this story than you are keeping up with new developments yourself?
I suggest that you quit trying to dispute everyone who posts their opinions and links showing where they are based on just because you don’t like them disproving your verdict in this case.

People who put much stock in what Google earth shows are those who believe everything they read on Wikipedia.
I take what they say with a very large grain of salt.
Google earth is off by 100s of feet when I check known locations. They may have it right on some things in some locations, but not accurate enough to put much stock in it.
I have it on good authority (AT http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/shop_iphone/family/iphone/iphone4s ) that you can get your basic phone for a mere $199. Then there are the aps, and wow.
Your typical ordinary neighborhood kid with indulgent parents may well be walking down the street with over $3,000 in stuff wrapped up in a cellphone.

BUT that's just about the value of the cellphone. What about the pictures? Did Martin take the cellphone out of his pocket to take a picture? What did he see? Did Zimmerman take the phone to hide evidence?
