Rick Santorum is getting grief even from some of his supporters for saying wed be better off sticking with Barack Obama.
The only problem is
he didnt say that.
Heres what Santorum actually said:
You win by giving people a choice. You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone whos just going to be a little different than the person in there. If youre going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch A Sketch candidate of the future, Santorum told a crowd at USAA.
Translation: We will not have a candidate for president in 2012.
I concur?
Just 3 yrs ago..Santorum endorsed Mitt Romney for president. No doubt Vesty is trying to do damage control...he may as well go back to discussing porn.
“I would venture to guess that IF Romney is the Republican nominee in the General Election Newt, Rick, Sarah and all the rest of the folks that we wish were the nominee will ALL vote for Romney and it boggles my mind that someone would “sit it out” when these very smart conservative people “get it” and will most likely vote for Romney.”
That is because they ultimately put party ahead of principle, because IF they don’t - they will be forever blacklisted. I am not running for office so - I WILL NOT SUPPORT ROMNEY. He will NEVER BE ACCEPTABLE EVEN WERE HE RUNNING AGAINST ADOLF HITLER. The damnable GOP establishment won’t back a true conservative....they keep putting forth “moderates” translated means a GOP Liberal.
Too bad. Wish he had said it. I believe it to be true.
Obama is preferable to Romney.
Since both are liberals, it’s better to let the democrat do that and not turn the Republican party into another overt bastion of liberalism.
You have shown your attitude and your words to be indefensible.
Well, enjoy your Saturday night when Louisiana rolls in and Rick Santorum places number one, and Newt Gingrich comes in a poor third, another stake in the heart in the mere illusion of an untenable, windmill-tilting “Southern Strategy” (sic).
Will you like some “cheese to go along with your whine”?? :-)
Currently, I don’t support any candidate on the right. That said, Santorum clearly said we’d be better to stick with Obama than go with Romney. There is no other way to read it.
Santorum loses in a blowout versus Obama.
This is being misinterpreted, especially by the pro-Romney crowd, which is desperately grasping at any straw to erase the Etch-a-Sketch remarks.
Romney is too much like Obama — that Mitt is a RINO whose record looks like that of Obama and thus, you can choose either one and get essentially the same thing.
You might remember that Mittens voted for Tsongas.
Romney has said that he is for a national health mandate (Obamacare), even though he is denying that right now. You can find him saying that he is for a mandate on a NATIONAL level, on Youtube.
*Romney ran as a PRO-CHOICE candidate for Governor
*Romney supported Cap and Trade
*Romney supports a national healthcare mandate and is the creator of Romneycare (the blueprint for Obamacare)
*Romney helped give Massachusetts gay marriage
*Romney believes in man-made global warming
*Romney was for the bail outs.
If you wish to choose your candidate based on the opinion of the media that is your choice. I will go with moral courage and strong principles.
If you think Santorum will be an inneffective candidate that is your choice. I wish Santorum was more articulate and able to handle the media better and able to present the issues better.
I respect Santorum as a good and moral man and I am tired of the media constantly lying about him.
I don’t think anyone with an IQ over 85 actually misunderstood Rick.
Yeah, you’d read it that way if you hadn’t been watching the primary, the debates for 3 months, or the preceding sentence.
/facepalm...the quote is clear on what Santorum said. Sheesh...he'd rather see Obama than Romney.
“Who Says” is the key words in your post !! I don’t know for sure that Romney if elected won’t nominate a liberal judge to the courts. However, I do know that if Obama is relected he will for sure nominate a far left liberal. I voted for Rick Santorum in the Georgia primary but he is not going to win the nomination and I refuse to cutt off my nose to spite my face. Romney will come under immence pressure to stand by his words if elected and all I can do is hope that he will nominate a concervative jurist to the court. Romney was the Gov. in the most liberal state in the nation and I’m sure he put judges on the courts that he wasn’t happy with but they were the only ones he could get passed.
The problem with that line of reasoning is Anthony Kennedy has said he won't return until Obama leaves office. A Romney Presidency would like result in him returning. Romney could easily stick us with another David Souter and move the court to the left.
Im sure he put judges on the courts that he wasnt happy with but they were the only ones he could get passed.
Utter nonsense, showing you haven't done your homework on Romney. Any judge he appointed has to be rabidly pro-abortion according to his criterion. He was putting homosexual activist lawyers on courts.
With that line of reasoning it sure looks like you should vote for Obama so Kennedy will stay on the court !! Not me. I’ll just take my chances on anyone with an “R” after their name.
Well said Timber Rattler !!
I will not for Romney, whose record is the left of Bill Clinton and who is just as big a liar and flip-flopper as Clinton.
You don't seem to get it. Romney means a shrinking Republican minority in Congress while an Obama reelection will result in a growing Republican majority. The Republican party will be in as bad a shape after a Romney Presidency as it was after Bush left office. Any gains we made in 2010 will be wiped and then some.
Romney is FAR more likely to get liberal legislation passed working with RINOS and Democrats than Obama would be.
The election of Romney will be as big a disaster as the governorship of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
