More insensitivity than hypocrisy. Though in this case, Mr. Hanks probably just agreed to show up and read index cards at the school fund raiser, knowing his name on the announcement would be a draw. I doubt he had any idea what the “entertainment” would entail.

I like Tom Hanks, but when it comes to politics, he is only slight less astute than Forest Gump.
