'The Children Are Off-Limits': White House In Fury Over Rick Santorum For Attacking Malia Obama's Trip To Mexico
By CHRISTINE SHOW 22 March 2012
Barack Obama responded Wednesday with shock to Rick Santorum's recent criticisms that the President was an irresponsible parent for sending his daughter to Mexico.
President Obama's deputy campaign manager, Stephanie Cutter, ripped the Republican presidential candidate for raising an issue about Malia Obama's recent school trip.
She blasted Mr Santorum for targeting the child on the campaign trail.
'Children off-limits': Barack Obama's campaign team blasted Rick Santorum for criticising the President's decision to let his daughter to travel to Mexico
Ms Cutter told MSNBC: 'I think that children, for candidate purposes, have always been off-limits in presidential campaigns, and really any campaign.
'I'm surprised that Rick Santorum wouldn't agree with that.' The comments came after Mr Santorum talked with Glenn Beck on his conservative radio show on Tuesday about his opinion on President Obama's decision to allow Malia, 13, to visit Mexico after the U.S. State Department issued a travel warning there.
He told Mr Beck: 'What I would say is that the President's actions should reflect what his administration is saying.
'If the administration is saying that it's not safe to have people down here, then just because you can send 25 Secret Service agents doesn't mean you should do it.'
'Set an example': Mr Santorum called President Obama irresponsible for sending daughter Malia, 13, to Mexico despite State Department travel warning
Mr Santorum went on to say: 'You should set an example. I think that's what presidents do. They set an example. And when the government is saying this is not safe, then you don't set the example by sending your kids down there.'

The Obamas using the children to score political points, I see.
He wasn’t attacking Malia, he was attacking the President.
The children are off limits?
Tell that to Sarah Palin, George Bush......
ATTACKING 0’s daughter??!? Sounds like Santorum was concerned for her safety and well-being.
Doesn’t Obummer drop their names about twice a speech anymore? What a load of crap.
It was okay for Obama 2008 sponsors to call Trig a retard and his mother a piece of meat with broken sexual equipment though, right Barry?
Call off your wolves and denounce them when they sin.
The double standard is sickening. The socialist children are schoolyard bullies.
Meanwhile, who paid for the trip?
Members of the ROP can’t go a day without being outraged and offended by something that they first have to twist all out of shape to suit their purposes. Hmmm, I wonder if this Obama character is a moslem.
Correct.
State Department warnings are for little people, no pun intended.
‘Set an example’: Mr Santorum called President Obama irresponsible for sending daughter Malia, 13, to Mexico despite State Department travel warning
Obama’s staff also commanded that the media PURGE the news accounts of her trip.
But don’t dare call it censorship.

I visited Oaxaca many years ago. It was a beautiful place with two developed cultures, the Zapotec and Michtec.
Going with Santorum on this one.
If the President allows his daughter to go into a craphole country like Mexico and I have to pay for 25 plus Secret Service Agents to go along then the “children” are not of limits........
Prop? The Obama kids aren't even that, they're a pair of images. We know they exist, but no one knows what they say, think, do, how they behave, nothing. But all Republican kids are fair game.
At first the trip was a secret, then it was reported that she was on spring break with a group of friends. Now they are saying that it’s a “school trip” and not “spring break”, after they tried to keep the trip secret.
A “school trip” sounds like a field trip to learn about Mexico. Whereas “spring break” conjures up thoughts we don’t want to think about, especially with a 13 year old girl.
This isn’t an attack on Malia, but rather her parents and their spendthrift attitude toward the taxpayer’s dollar. They could have gotten her an equally enjoyable stateside spring vacation with a lighter security detail and lower cost, with plenty of choices. If Myrtle Beach wasn’t warm enough for her, surely somewhere in Florida, Louisiana, Texas, or SoCal would have sufficed.
That's why Obozo's demanding that his PAC gives back the $1M donation from Maher. Right?
