Wouldn't things like GSR and blood spatter normally be used to determine who fired the weapon, and the range? Because it is not disputed by anybody that Zimmerman shot Martin, and there are multiple witnesses who saw Martin on top of Zimmerman immediately before hearing the shot.
I'm truly curious what those tests would be expected to show. And I would like to know where you read this, because I haven't seen anything about the medical examiner's report or any kind of lab work.

If Zimmerman shot Martin while Martin was on top pounding him, then you would expect GSR on Martin and Martin's blood on Zimmerman. If they are not present, it would call Zimmerman's account in question.
