During the Civil War cutting and running was called “seeing the elephant”. I say hold steady people this thing ain’t over, even if the RINO’s are all running away from a fight.

WaPo has an article pushing Santo to get out now, people suggesting GOP needs to settle on a candidate now, and Rick hurts his own future prospects if he doesn’t get out soon. Linked to it from Drudge. Would be interesting if Santo bought into that argument and dropped out, then we could see what would happen the rest of the way should Gingrich hold steady.

"I seen the elephant" just meant having been in battle, having faced something strange and terrifying. It's something Civil War veterans would have said proudly, not in shame.
