(CNSNews.com) – House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Thursday that Obamacare facilitates the type of “liberation” that the “Founders had in mind” because it allows you to leave your job and become a “photographer,” a “writer,” a “musician” -- or “whatever.”

“As you hear from these stories, this is a liberation,” Pelosi said at a Capitol Hill news conference Thursday.

“This is what our founders had in mind -- ever expanding opportunity for people.

“You want to be a photographer or a writer or a musician, whatever -- an artist, you want to be self-employed, if you want to start a business, you want to change jobs, you no longer are prohibited from doing that because you can’t have access to health care, especially because you do not want to put your family at risk,” she said.

"...... it allows you to leave your job and become a photographer,” a “writer,” a “musician” -- or “whatever a worthless hippy bum.”

Just correcting for accuracy.

You can have a job and still become a “photographer,” a “writer,” a “musician” — or “whatever.”

You're absolutely right. To us normal, sane, responsible people this sounds perfectly reasonable. Many of us make a living at one thing, but have hobbies/interests in others. Some might even call that being a well-rounded person. ;-)

Some people really like their work (I'm fortunate enough to be one of them). I realize some people don't particularly care for their jobs, long for more. Hey, that is the impetus to improve yourself, improve your lot. Not, dear Nancy, an excuse for an overbearing nanny-state to come in and try to make it all better at the expense of my time/treasure/freedoms to support some freeloader. Making it all better takes work.

Hey, if I could make a living as a cook, personal trainer, woodworker, photographer, naturalist/guide, sniper, etc. I would. But you know, I recognize where my true talents lie, and I've not only accepted that, I embrace it. I like my job, I like my hobbies. I don't expect nor want, and wouldn't accept someone else having to support me so I could simply screw-off and pursue hobbies instead.

So glad I spent my youth studying science and medicine so that others could quit their jobs and do whatever.

Just more evidence that Democrats don’t understand entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurs are risk takers and don’t need a crutch before taking those risks.

They can only go do whatever if we also throw in food stamps and welfare checks. Healthcare does not pay your bills.

We have more writers, musicians, photographers and whatever than we actually need. We don’t need to be subsidizing entry into these occupations. How about some mechanics, accountants and engineers instead?

This is just my opinion but...that woman is genuinely insane.

Of course she is - look a the constituency she represents. Who else would they elect? Not to mention the need for the Left to have the ultimate useful idiot available to anchor the concept for all their other millions of idiots.

“This is what our founders had in mind — ever expanding opportunity for people”

Yeah, yeah, yeah. We’ve all heard the old story about how Adams pushed Hamilton to lend a little coinage to subsidize bloodlettings for wandering minstrels.

“You don’t just go become a writer or photographer or ‘whatever’ unless you want to live in a van down the river while pursuing your ‘whatever’ dreams”

Yes, all those qualifiers. You have to want freedom, and pursue a career in something with little hope of immediate financial gain, and insist on being insured, and presuambly have preexisting conditions, and not care about your freedom being subsidized by others (granted, this includes basically everyone these days), etc. Does anyone honestly think the Founders had *all* that in mind? They were greater geniuses than I thought.
