The President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama, has generated so much fear that the most common theme of posted comments and private communications is that he will refuse to relinquish power if defeated in November or that, under some pretext, he will declare a state of martial law.
Many, myself included, did not like the Patriot Act that was enacted following 9/11 but there is little evidence that this law has been abused to deprive Americans of their fundamental rights and freedom, though surely some suspected of being terrorists were detained.
An Executive Order posted on the White House website on Friday, March 16, 2012, has generated a wave of fear. It is officially about "National Defense Resources Preparedness" and its stated policy addresses "national defense resource policies and programs under the Defense Production Act of 1950."
Its stated policy is that "The United States must have an industrial and technological base capable of meeting national defense requirements and capable of contributing to the technological superiority of its national defense equipment in peacetime and in times of national emergency." (Emphasis added)
In 1950 the nation was entering a new phase of history following World War II. It would be called the Cold War led by the then-Soviet Union, but 1950 is also important because on October 1, 1949, Mao Zedung had proclaimed the birth of the People's Republic of China, instituting a Communist regime that continues to this day. With German and Japanese totalitarian threats vanquished, new ones were emerging.

All those who don’t believe Martial Law can happen need to read about the Bonus Expeditionary Forces after WWI staring General MacArthur, George Patton and Dwight Eisenhower.

My observation is it has always been this frequent and serious this far ahead of a presidential election. Really.
The Obama doesn’t have the gravitas to pull it off.
Orders of magnitude between the aggressive removal of protestors vs. outright martial law.
It wasn’t till the early 1850s, though—when all the commies who had escaped the hangman in 1848’s rebellion in Europe—had shown up in usa and began positioning themselves in the legislatures of canada and washington, eventually the Union army, etc.
Karl Marx had already been a writer for the NY Tribune w/Horace Greeley for 10 years, etc, etc...the writing was then on the wall for anyone w/a crystal ball...i.e., dishonest abe, etc.

Maybe but these men were unemployed, hungry and only wanted what was promised to them. Their bonus. Instead they got charged with 6 tanks, bayonets, gassed and their shacks burned.
Think what it will be when there is no food on the shelves and high unemployment all across the nation, not just in DC. The race riots will look like a walk in the park.
Its all about perception and deception. If Barry can make a martial law scenario look like what it really is then theres no question the military will follow along. Yes, he’ll be a dictator at the point but not in those words. If he can pull off a soft coup then the deception is complete. As I said, there will be some few who refuse but you and I will never know it. Most in the military will go along for various reasons but go along they will.
I think you see it clearly. The police will be esp bad. Right now they must keep their corruption in the dark. When Constitutional protections evaporate there’s nothing to stop them being the worthless criminals they are. Those in the military will follow suit not wanting to be left out.

I believe there is truth in your statement above. We have a deep divide in the U.S. between the philosophies of the right and left. It is like a boil that has been festering for a long time. Some in this nation, on both the right and the left, would like it lanced.
I disagree, though, with your statement that the “ills” are “imagined”. When nearly 50% or more of one’s income is confiscated in taxes, when one is forced to support programs that deeply violate one’s religious conscience, and when one must lick the boots of numberless petty bureaucrats just to open a lemon aide stand, these offenses are not “imagined”.
I agree. If it gets that bad it will mean a serious SHTF senario has happened. Food and water will be scarce but our military is well prepped with both. Our soldiers will do what they are ordered to to stay alive via that food and water being provided them. Then, after 95% of the American population dies off in the first six months or so, due to any number of reasons, lack of water/food being number one, it is simple mop up time for the troops. It will not matter how many firearms have been sold recently or how many are in private hands. Dead men can’t shoot anything. This is the way I see it going. Flame away all, I have my 2012 Mayan calender asbestos suit on tight!

What I could foresee is a situation where hussein stages or invites a fake or ill conceived coup d’etat. This would likely lead to dictatorship. Chavez did something like this, and of course there was the Reichstag. A big war with Iran could always work.
What would they flame you with? Certainly not common sense, logic or history. I suspect you’d get an emotional barge of silliness. At any rate will be interesting to see if any of the law & order crowd shows up, should be entertaining. ;)
“The Castle Rock case specifically addresses whether the police have a constitutional duty to enforce court-issued restraining orders; in a broader sense, however, the decision focuses on the duty of government law enforcement officials to take action when they are put on notice of a dangerous situation. The question raised by Castle Rock goes to the heart of the role of government in the protection of the public’s health and welfare and is one that the Supreme Court has considered in the past.”
. . .
“The Castle Rock decision addresses the issue of police powers, the term generally used to describe the inherent authority of state and local governments to require conformance with established standards of conduct. Police powers lie at the heart of the role of government in society, since they form the basis of the government’s power to act in numerous venues, from public health and welfare to public safety. In a public health practice context, police powers can take many forms, both preventive and remedial, from licensure and accreditation of health professionals and facilities to the enforcement of civil and criminal statutes against violators through fines or other civil or criminal sanctions.”

I’m sure that you’re right.
LOL, OK, whats your point?
Only pointing out that the S. Ct. weighed in on the police issue and they are not for our protection but for governments.
By the way, I have a son that is a state trooper. Not all police are bad or corrupt. :)
That’s why he needs to gin up another conflict before November, so he can make sure the military is safely overseas when he calls up his “civilian” National Security apparatus.
Way below the 50% mark would follow...
Others would walk.
We’re not N. Korea where they’re bribed w access to food.
I was enlisted and have family still serving and they’d walk.
You have “the sneer” down pat.
I see, got it...thx for that.
re your son...Im sure youre right. However, Im not his parent and suspect Id be treated much differently than you.
