I think your list is about as useful to the debate as all the stupid lists the GIngrich folks have put out to attack Santorum.
It shows that you can take anybody’s record, pick out specific votes and issues, along with selected quotes from media outlets, and make them look like flaming liberals.
There are some things in the list I would argue about, like the attacks on Gingrich for his personal life. But I like the list, simply because when the Gingrich folks rightly complain about it, they might realize the problem with the list of Santorum “transgressions”.
This illustrates that (flaws and all) better than simply stating it. Gingrich is not a liberal, he is sufficiently conservative, as can be seen by his various ratings (which are not great, but are “conservative enough”, and essentially identical to Santorum’s various ratings, and I believe Santorum is “conservative enough”.
If you were to keep posting this list, I would suggest removing all references to Gingrich’s personal life; some of your source material has been essentially debunked, and it will allow opinion-based arguments. Best to have a list with simple factual statements of votes taken, and quotes of statements made. Let the reader make their own conclusions, so you don’t get attacked for editorializing.
By including that stuff, you’ll let somebody pull the “it’s all lies, and I’ll just take the time to point out ONE lie” trick; they can only find one lie, but it looks like they have debunked your list.
But remember, I think the list is useless except as a tool to show the rediculousness of the list of “bad Santorum votes”.
I have pretty much kept my mouth shut about Gingrich, because I will take him any day over Romney. Slamming him does more harm than good. Gingrich is not the most ethical man in the world and has a ton of record to prove that.
IF only he could take all his excellent knowledge and speaking talents and apply them in a more moral manner, I would truly love the man.
My Mother probably says the same thing about me...lol.
Rick Santorum is my pick.
But I saw this post for what is was...dubious, hateful and anti-Christian...anti-true Christian, that is - it flew all over me, for some reason.
Gingrich is pretty much out of the race and people who are attacking Santorum now, calling themselves conservatives, are not conservatives. They know any attacks on Santorum helps Romney and does nothing for Gingrich.
