Newt Gingrich is joining team Obama by mocking Mitt Romney advisor Eric Fehrnstrom's "Etch-A-Sketch" comments today.
Asked about how Romney would handle his pivot from primary to general election, Fehrnstrom said, Well, I think you hit a reset button for the fall campaign. Everything changes." Fehrnstrom said on CNN, "Its almost like an Etch-A-Sketch. You can kind of shake it up and restart all of over again."
After highlighting Mitt Romney's inconsistancy on the issues, Gingrich handed the Etch-A-Sketch to a child in the audience and said, "Here you go, you can now be a presidential candidate."
Obama's SuperPAC has already put up a campaign ad featuring Mitt Romney's "Etch-A-Sketch" which is posted below.
Instead of begging him to withdraw, Rick should be pleading for him to stay in-- Newt's the only chance Rick has for relevancy.
The only positive out of this circumstance, is that Rick apparently has followed suit-- hopefully, having discussed matters with his mentor Newt, and decided to dutifully follow.
I'm in, til Newt's out.

from 2008: Eric Fehrnstrom approaches Glen Johnson of the Associated Press near the end of this video, telling him basically to watch his step...”don’t be argumentative with the candidate” (Romney).
This guy Romney is a carefully packaged commodity, an empty suit. They will change the wrapping as they see fit.
Too bad that Obama is going to be the only one with enough money to get the word out on Romney, after it is too late.
And I second that.
I’m in too. Newt’s comment was just toooooooo funny. He is the only one who can make them all look like the fools that they are. Wonder which one of Mittens “Road” Scholars was responsible for that line.
That’s hilarious...
Etch A. Sketch
@ExecutiveEtch
Policy Advisor to President-Elect Romney. The Karl Rove of Toys.
Behind the throne.
And the tweets are pretty funny.
Oh my goodness---that is hilarious!!!!
GO Newt!
And he shall forever be known as “ Etch-A-Sketch Rick.”
Way too much fun :)
Hmmm, be interesting if the Etch-A-Sketch comment was enough to WAKE AMERICA UP!
Can’t we just erase liberal lier Willrack oRombey as a choice for 2012.
No. Santorum should have the humility to withdraw and get behind his mentor, his intellectual superior, the national treasure, known as Newt. Seems to me that's what a real saint would do...
what's an etch-a-sketch? Where do you buy them?
This symbolizes Romney’s biggest vulnerabilities - he has surrounded himself with these valueless advisors who believe in nothing other than how they can get in power and control others.
But Gingrich and the rest of the Republicans aren’t any better. They only hear from political insiders. They need to talk with some real people. The first 100 names in a phone book would provide better advice than all of these political “experts”.
Romney’s campaign executive director is a Karl Rove protege. ‘Nuff said. Romney is saying the right things, but does he believe them? The hacks around him sure don’t.
Romney could fix this by firing this Fehrnstrom guy immediately. Let’s see what he does. It will reveal the real Romney.
