We now know how much it takes to elect a liberal as the standard-bearer for a party with a conservative base. About $80 million. Anyone think Romney's strategy against Obama will be anywhere near as aggressive as his primary strategy?

Unless a large subset of Dems sabotage Obama to get the liberal Republican of their dreams in November, Romney is going to get massacred in the general election. And the GOP-e will be fine with it.

I’m reading a book now by someone who hates democracy and seems to be a monarchist.

He hasn’t persuaded me to adopt those opinions (well, the first one somewhat), but a Romney-Obama election might.
