To say that they both have the same right as a defender is to place them both also as the aggressor. I don’t recall where a person can simultaneously be considered a perp and a victim. On any charge, it’s either/or.
Just because Zimmerman found himself outmatched doesn’t suddenly make him the victim.

The law doesn't depend on who swung first. It just says a person is justified in the use of deadly force if "he or she reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to himself or herself..." -

When this first started some of the posters (In various threads) seemed to feel any criticism of whatever it was Zimmerman did was a challenge to gun rights.
Careful reading of the laws you reference elsewhere clearly reveals you don't need to bring a gun with you to be protected by the law>
You are entitled to be walking along peaceably minding your business ~ and if necessary defend yourself!
