This isn’t an article from Rick. It is someone at NR bringing this up. I also don’t remember Rick running ads against Gingrich anywhere. He didn’t have the money to waste on it.
Everyone keeps putting all this importance on Newt collapsing because of how Romney slammed him in IA. How can you explain his collapse after SC, and then after GA? I can. Newt is running a terrible campaign. Just today his financials show that he is in deep debt. All that money from Adelson and nothing to show for it. Right there might be the problem with him and not the ads against him.
Rick, on the other hand, has been running a solid campaign against Milt this whole time with the MSM, Drudge, Milts Super PAC, Milt, FOX News, and the Establishment dumping all over him, yet he is still competitive with no money.
Just because you don’t remember it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Rick’s ads, even though there were not many of them, were almost all anti Newt ads in Iowa.
Bingo
Lots of things wrong with your statements. Newt was slammed harder in Florida than in Iowa. That's why he collapsed there. It sounds like he ran out of money after Florida, and not campaigning in every February state hurt him, and that coupled with the widespread religious endorsements for Santorum changed Santorum into the frontrunning non-Romney. Newt didn't "collapse" after Georgia. He's been doing gradually better in every state he's been campaigning in. Georgia was a bigger victory because its his home state. Adelson's money went to Newt's SuperPAC, not to Newt. We don't know how much money the SuperPAC has left now. As for Santorum, he has been raising a lot of money. That's why he can now beat Newt in states, but not Romney. He would be doing better against Romney if he could learn how to speak English at least as well as W.
