Really, how different was the OBL raid from any similar raid conducted in Iraq or Afghanistan? Apart from the OBL raid being conducted in secret on an erstwhile-ally’s soil, there really was no difference from any other no-knock Special Forces raid.
Even Pearl Harbor. The Japanese had to sail 1500 miles undetected, get good weather, and hope that the United States did not have scout planes out conducting searches.
While it was a tactical success, it was a strategic failure - since the Japanese were not able to knock out the Pacific carrier force [which was out on maneuvers at the time].
