Malia in Mexico story vanishing from the Web

Have you heard that Malia Obama, the president’s daughter, is reportedly spending her spring break in Oaxaca, Mexico?

Allegedly, she’s jetting off with some of her classmates and 25 Secret Service agents to a country that the State Department has said all Americans should avoid. But something is different about the latest “Obama vacation controversy:” references to it are disappearing from the Internet — and fast.

? Where do you extrapolate anything I posted previously as somehow equating that I "hate Mexico"? I do not hate Mexico, I simply have no sympathies for anyone naiive enough to still attempt to vacation there given all that country's problems. Simply because one is not in as much danger there than if one attempted to travel in the communist rebel territories in the northern phillippines does not mitigate its danger levels even though Mexico has a much better propaganda arm.

As far as "most of the country" being "perfectly all right" and somehow "safer on the street there", I must needs differ with you substantially. I even to this day have friends with relatives there warn about the dangers.

Keep your blinders on as you will; unless you have blood or at least very close ties to one or more of the Ruling Families, your safety in Mexico is as assured as the continued existence of a dollar bill on a city sidewalk.

If it's my tax dollars paying for it, yeah it is my business.

But, the point of my post was. Do you think that people who are staying at the same hotel are not twitting, or posting it on facebook?

Everyone (practically) post everything they are doing, saying, seeing, especially on vacation. If you don't want people talking about where your kid is staying, then don't let them go there.

And, quite frankly I'm tired of my tax dollars paying for the wife, and kiddies to be taking all these people all over the world sometimes on MY dime.

I haven't had a vacation in over 14 years. All they do is vacation.

laz....20+ secret service agents, Mexican police force, entire hotel shut down, streets blocked off, if they were that worried they shouldn’t have sent their 13 year old to Mexico on a spring break taxpayer funded vacation. Just sayin’ He pimps them out the time. the ONLY reason he wants this hushed up now is because it once again, shows how extravagant they are with our dollars. We will have to agree to disagree on this.

So much for a “Free Republic.” While I concur with the sentiment “leave the kids alone,” and agree that the moderator should remove and block usera posting rude and inappropriate posts, but closing down the discussion violates the very nature of this site.

Not only is it unusual in our society for our twelve year old children to “spring break,” it is highly dangerous and extremely expensive to send one of the First Family alone to such a potentially hostile environment. It quite frankly is irresponsible at best, and flagrantly elitist at worse, for the President to abuse his position for such an excursion.

That said, the true insult has been committed by the moderator, taking it upon them-self to decide what subjects are “correct” for a Free Republic to discuss.

That’s a lot easier said than done if no alternative locale had been prepared for that sizable party.

Also, if the SS were to move the Obama party to another location, it leaves in place at the original hotel all its other guests and hotel staff, who could become inadvertent victims if there were an attack intended for the daughter of the POTUS. Those guests/staff would have NO SS protection.

There was no need for that kind of detail in the story. Nice way to put a lot of people at risk unnecessarily.

I vehemently disagree with you on this. Last month Moochies Aspen vacation was very hush hush. It’s an election year, what you said is incorrect. He’s in trouble and things like this just piss more people off and he needs every vote he can get. It’s not about safety, it’s about hiding the money being spent. If it was about safety they wouldn’t have sent her to Mexico. I’m sure she is safe. That, you can count on.
