Malia in Mexico story vanishing from the Web
Times247 ^ | 3/19/12 | Eric Ritz

Have you heard that Malia Obama, the president’s daughter, is reportedly spending her spring break in Oaxaca, Mexico?

Allegedly, she’s jetting off with some of her classmates and 25 Secret Service agents to a country that the State Department has said all Americans should avoid. But something is different about the latest “Obama vacation controversy:” references to it are disappearing from the Internet — and fast.

In addition to larger news organizations, smaller sites are also removing their stories....Free Republic removed a related discussion thread....

Of these sites, the only one to state a reason for the change was “Free Republic,“ where the Admin wrote ”Leave the kids alone.”

Review of Cuban-American Blogs

To tell the unconventional truth, respecting no one who does not respect Cuba or the Cuban people's right to freedom.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008 Meet Fidel Odinga

Yes, his complete name is Fidel Castro Odinga. He is the eldest son of Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga and a first cousin to Barack Hussein Obama. The late Obama Sr. was the prime minister's maternal uncle. Although Obama Sr. was educated at Harvard and Odinga in East Germany, uncle and nephew were friends and political allies.

Today it is Barack Obama and Raila Odinga who have formed a transcontinental political alliance. In fact, Senator Obama, in an unprecedented breech of protocal, went to Kenya in 2006 to campaign on his cousin's behalf in that country's presidential election.

Raila lost the election when a secret pact was revealed with Kenya's Muslim Brotherhood to institute sharia law in all the country's courts in exchange for their support of his candidacy. This is all the more remarkable because it is Christianity (66%), not Islam (10%), which is the largest religion in Kenya, and English common law, not the Koran, which is the basis for its legal system. Or, perhaps, it is not so remarkable, after all, since both the Odingas and Obamas belong to the 10 percent.

Although not an observant Muslim, Odinga does represent Moammar Qaffafy's oil interests in southern Africa, which may better explain his willingness to tranform his non-Muslim country into a Muslim state as Idi Amin did in Uganda when he was the recipient of the colonel's largesse 30 years ago.

Odinga's connection to Barack Obama, however, has proved more useful in his political career than Qadaffy's billions. It was in the expectation of Obama's election as president, and to ingratiate himself to him, that Odinga's political rival offered him the premiership as a consolation prize.

When Prime Minister Odinga named his son "Fidel Castro," he broke with Kenyan tradition as he should have named him for the boy's grandfather Oginga Odinga (the Kenyan "Fidel Castro"), a Marxist-Leninist revolutionary who led an unsuccessful coup to topple the government of Kenya on behalf of the Soviets.

It is not known whether Oginga Odinga's brother-in-law, Obama Sr., was involved in the coup, though given the tribal character of politics in Kenya it would be difficult to imagine that he wasn't at least aware of it or wouldn't have profited by it even if he didn't contribute to it. Indeed, that may have been the reason for Obama Sr.'s failed political career in Kenya.

It is certainly ironic that Obama Sr.'s star eclipsed because of his relationship to Oginga Odinga, whereas his son Raila's rose because of his connection to Obama Jr.

We wonder how things might have turned out if Obama Sr., the Harvard-trained economist, had followed his cousin's example and named his American-born son "John Maynard Keynes Obama." Posted by Manuel A.Tellechea

The Secret Service is calling lots of editors, producers, and blogmasters and making offers they can’t refuse.

The First Amendment got repealed?

I vehemently disagree with you on this. Last month Moochies Aspen vacation was very hush hush. It’s an election year, what you said is incorrect. He’s in trouble and things like this just piss more people off and he needs every vote he can get. It’s not about safety, it’s about hiding the money being spent. If it was about safety they wouldn’t have sent her to Mexico. I’m sure she is safe. That, you can count on.

What happened to 'we will all have to agree to disagree'? I feel as vehemently -- leave the children of politicians alone! I expressed anger when W's daughters were maligned, even more so when Palin's children were abused. I'm not going to switch my core belief on this just because I don't like the politician (which is an understatement).

Maybe the motivation for story quashing IS political. I don't care. Mexico is riddled with very well armed drug gangs. It's not safe for anyone, they routinely cap top pols in that country. Maximize the kids protection!

We shouldn’t have to debate the safety of children and the 1st Amendment for reasons of a careless President.

The sad truth is that there are grown adults who see fit to trash the appearance and demeanor of a 13-year-old girl.

FR mods have been doing this a long time, and often on stories such as this the only way to get posters to knock it off is to pull threads until they get the message (which did work in this case).

Sorry you find such so restrictive. I'm sure you can find a site where posters can trash kids to their hearts content.

The problem is that people think free speech is a mandate, but there are times when we all have the right to choose not to speak.

When anyone's life could be jeopardized, even that of an inept president or his family, or if national security could be compromised, it is a good time to make that choice.

It's too bad that, in this case, the editors, producers and blogmasters have to be coerced to not speak up, but when it comes to something like a president's eligibility to serve (and, mind you, all we need is the undeniable, unforged proof), most of them choose to be silent.

Indeed, protect the chillrun. Maybe the best way to do that is to keep them home or change the venue to a safer third world country such as Anacostia in SW Washington DC.

Using this administration's guide lines and laws a case for child endangerment could be made against every parent and the Sidwell Friends School. After all the situation in Mexico is far more dangerous than not having the kids safely strapped into the Benz's, BMW, and Range Rover's on their daily ride to school. Or...heaven forbid suffering second hand smoke in the White House.

My real concern is that the resident and the liberal clown posse of parents willing place their off spring in harm's way as potential hostages In what is essentially a lawless country. The narco cartels have assassinated hundreds of policemen, chiefs and even federal Prosecutors, and on more than one occasion attacked full army units

Essentially Sidwell Friends and the WH has set up the potential for a mini Beslan scenario in order to have their children's ticket punched for "social awareness - empathy and third world solidarity" and get the tee shirts to prove it.

The cartels knew of this trip long before the press became aware of it. Among all the resort area workers down to maids and busboys knew of it. How many are on cartel payrolls, willingly or not.

Then consider DOJ and BATF involvement in "Fast and Furious". Is a hostage/blackmail scenario really in conceivable?

I leave you with this article from the BBC published today.

Mexican policemen killed after beheadings

19 March 12 19:05 ET

Gunmen in western Mexico have killed 12 policemen investigating the beheadings of 10 people.

The officers were attacked as they searched for bodies after severed heads were found near the town of Teloloapan in Guerrero state on Sunday.

Messages threatening the La Familia drug cartel were found with the heads.

Correspondents say La Familia and the Knights Templar, a rival cartel, are fighting for control of the drugs trade in Guerrero state.

Few details have been released about the ambush, which occurred late on Sunday. At least nine agents were injured and are being treated in hospital.

Some 4,000 Mexican police and army are involved in operations against drug traffickers in the area, where major tourist destinations like Acapulco and Zihuatanejo are located.

Being critical of Barack Obama is understandable and encouraged. He's a careless fool for letting this happen.

That said, once the careless decision is made, the SS should take every measure to protect Malia, including what I see as very sensible information quashing. I bet it was all very voluntary, a call from the SS saying, "Hey, could ya..." as opposed to "Hey, we will storm you unless you..."

Absolutely! I agree with that. In fact, if a Mexico trip was THAT necessary for Malia, perhaps Barack could have taken a tiny break from his golf and fundraisers and gone with her???

I do not advocate going after any child but when politicians see fit to unleash the media on private citizens' lives, which affects the children of those powerless private citizens, then all is fair. We the people have the right to speak out without fear of our families being destroyed by a powerful politician or party who doesn't like what is being said and has media influence. Politicians know what they and their families are getting into when they choose that career. As much as they want to have it both ways, it's not their right.

If parents want to send their kid to Mexico for Spring Break, that is their right, but when it involves my tax money, I have a right to know and comment about it. If a politician doesn't like that, then don't become a public figure spending my tax money on things like that.

You're absolutely right. I knew that the situation in Mexico was dire when the thugs started preying on the tourists. Talk about slitting your own throat.

If the tourists avoid Mexico, a huge revenue source will dry up and blow away. Nitwits.

Thirty years ago, thieves got very long prison sentences for messing with tourists.

At the beginning of his radio show this morning, Glenn Beck mentioned Free Republic as one of the on-line web sites that took the thread down on this subject. Reason given by moderator: “Leave the kids alone.”
