I appreciate the kind words. I have tons of stories....maybe one day I’ll put up a thread about ‘em, just for the heck of it. :)
Oh...one thing I did forget to mention in the “West Pointer breakdown” story. I never laid a finger on him. Zip. He was broken down to a blubbering mass simply with words.
Words. My God, how powerful they truly can be in the “right” hands (mouth?).
Yeah, that was the same thing I witnessed at SERE with the guys who broke. It was a real eye-opener.
People have no idea what goes on during war. It's NOTHING like they show it in the John Wayne flicks. First of all, there's no popcorn! I thought it was all pretty cool and made a real man of you until I realized that people I didn't know were trying to kill me because someone told them to. And, that's when we are all reduced to a primal state of kill or be killed.
Anyone who wants to criticize Ssgt. Bales needs to walk a few miles in his boots and see what happens in a war. I apologize in advance to him and his family for the crucification he and they are about to endure from the left. I would hope that if there is a little bit of patriotism left in any of us that we would want to gather outside Ft. Leavenworth and wherever his court martial will be held just to let him know that he is NOT a forgotten hero who will be fed to the wolves for reaching his breaking point. No one who hasn't been there can EVER understand what he has endured.
God bless him and ALL of our American heroes in harms' way. Each and every day we need to remember that there, but for the grace of God, go I!
