Indiana: Dick Lugar Ruled Ineligible to Vote
Roll Call ^ | March 15, 2012 | Kyle Trygstad

Indiana Sen. Dick Lugar, who is facing a highly competitive GOP primary challenge, today was ruled ineligible to vote in his home precinct, the Indianapolis Star reported.

The Marion County Election Board voted 2-1 along party lines that Lugar and his wife, Charlene, who own a home in Virginia, had effectively abandoned their residence in the county and therefore could no longer vote there. Only the panel’s lone Republican voted to let the Lugars keep their eligibility.

The newspaper, however, cited election board attorneys who said the Lugars could resubmit voter registrations using an address of a family member or possibly the Lugar family farm. Lugar had been using an outdated address for a home he no longer owns in Indiana. Lugar has been dogged for months by the revelation that he has been staying in hotels when returning to Indiana for state work.

If he can’t vote in his own district then how is he able to represent it? /S

If Lugar does lose on May 8th, it will be a shock for the GOP half-assers througout the nation. Here in Massachusetts, we have to settle for Brown who is certainly a model for half-assed conservatism. There is no reason though, too settle for a Lugar, Burr or Simpson when you can get a Quayle, Helms or Wallop.

Lugar had been using an outdated address for a home he no longer owns in Indiana.
Then he shouldn’t be eligible to run for office either.”””

Thank you-—I am pretty sure he has to be a resident of the state which he wished to represent.

Are there any such challenges happening on this topic???

“If this guy Mourdock wins the primary, does he have a reasonable chance of winning in November?”

Absolutely. Indiana votes Republican in most elections.

Good by Lugar.

Just told dad. If he doesn’t qualify to vote he probably does not qualify to run.

There was a lot of call for him to retire in the last year or so.

He had his chance to leave with dignity.

Yes, Congressman Joe Donnelly of South Bend is running. He’ll only run a serious campaign is Lugar loses the primary. Otherwise, he may drop out of the race.

Thanks, good to hear. I did a cursory search and noticed he was just endorsed by the NRA and is backed by FreedomWorks.

Go Mourdock! :)

So, if Lugar’s address was invalid when he last ran, he has been illegally serving and can be immediately removed. Is that the point of the Democrats’ holding??

“It is time for him and Hatch to go, Ditto that McCain. After that, Murkowski ( I think she is vile ) and the other Mainer... Anymore? Gramasty for sure...”

I really thought Cong. Chaffetz would take on Hatch, but evidently the “Mormon” connection has kicked in and Hatch will get to stay on. All the people on your list need to go. It’s bad enough having the RATs in Congress, but the RINOs are inexcusable. The list is much longer than the one you have posted.
