Daytona plans partial repave prior to July race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Daytona International Speedway will undergo a partial repair and repave session after an intense fire in Turn 3 during this year’s Daytona 500.
This weekend, Daytona is hosting the American Motorcylist Association’s feature Daytona 200, but has seen no problems from having a variety of bikes on the surface.
“We’re looking forward to a successful Daytona 200,” track president Joie Chitwood III said in a statement. “Since the jet dryer incident occurred on Feb. 27, we have washed and cleaned the affected area of the race track in Turn 3 multiple times and applied street bond.
“We have worked closely with AMA Pro Racing officials and we’re both very confident it will not present any issues during the Daytona 200.”
The speedway’s plan calls to mind a more extensive project that was begun after the 2010 Coke Zero 400 Sprint Cup Series race.

We did the Luxor w/Premier Sports in 2010. We decided to go w/the Bellagio pkg this time as it was more centered on the strip; I’d give the Luxor a 1 star and the Bellagio a solid 4 stars. The Bellagio has 5 pools, a beautiful conservatory garden, excellent service and decor. The “Lake Bellagio” room was a $40.00 per night upgrade but well worth it.
That place has sure grown,, I’d love to stay at a Wynn resort / hotel for a week.. but my mortgage has priorities. ;-)
I “cleaned” the garage today and found my wife’s car that we had reported stolen 2 years ago...

Daytona International Speedway to ban smoking
This Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series Daytona 500 will mark one of the last days fans will be permitted to light up in the grandstands at the Daytona International Speedway.
Starting this summer, a smoking ban will prevent Daytona Speedway attendees from smoking in their seats. Smokers will instead have to go to designated smoking areas behind the grandstand. (RELATED: More on smoking)

A lot of tracks have already prohibited smoking in the stands. LVMS had that policy in effect last week and I know Sonoma has a similiar stance.
Ben is at the track today with a contingent of Marines. Thing is, he did not know what they are to do. (First to go - last to know.) Uniform is dress blues, so I wonder if they will present the colors,
No television and cannot find an online stream. If Marines do carry the colors and anyone can get a screen cap, I would appreciate it.
btw, the Anthem should be a 10+ as it will be performed by a TN Nat Guard quartet out of Knoxville and they promised in advance to sing it right!
