One of the dug out canoe makers from my tribe was asked if it was right for him to use the steel adz and chainsaws etc. to make his canoe. His answer was, he would, when the buyers of his canoes come to pick them up with their horse and wagon. Bottom line, if they would have had chainsaws in those days, no doubt the Indians and everyone else would have been using them. If he had made the canoe the old traditional way, it would have taken him at least a half year to get it done, and when he sold it, he could get not one more dime for that effort.

Do you know how to find a groundhogs hole, the answer makes more sense than your statement. If it is a tradition do it in the old traditional way. Works for the amish.
