The price of gasoline mainly depends on what the taxes on gasoline are. I have no idea how much the tax on gasoline is in DC, but I’m sure it’s considerable.
The price also depends on what the property taxes at the particular gas station are. If that station is within “walking distance of the White House”, you can bet that they are pretty high.

All true. But in terms of connecting with voters, gas stations and grocery stores are where people really notice price increases. I have some great conversations about the coming election while waiting in checkout lines.
