Didn’t forget about O being the most flawed. Of course he is. But it doesn’t help that we don’t have a Ronald Reagan this cycle. That’s all I’m saying. You can only choose between Newt’s brain, Rick’s heart, Mitt’s money or Ron’s fearlessness (and, unfortunately, also too often craziness).

Now, if you could put Newt’s brain in Rick’s body, give him Mitt’s money, and add a dash of Ron’s fearlessness (minus the craziness), you’d really have something.

Also Reagan wasn’t Reagan until after he became Reagan.

In other words, he wasn’t perfect either, he certainly wasn’t a shoe in against Carter. Carter and his boys WANTED to run against Reagan. He was a zealot, a divorced actor. Someone who was an old dunce from a nowhere college. A push over.

Reagan was trailing Carter by 20 points up to four weeks away from the 1980 election, yet he won a massive landslide victory.
