Dear Browiefornia:

In the near future, North Dakota will be producing about 1 million barrels of oil a day, worth in excess of 36 billion dollars at today's prices. You too could get that kind of business and tax base and sales taxes if you would wise up and abandon your green puke energy dogma. But of course, you won't. So ESAD..

Perfect. The implosion of California is accelerating. This is going to be fun to watch. My money was n my home state of Illinois to crash first. Looks like I was wrong.

By a combination redistricting, special interest money, and packed courts with partisan judges, California Democrats turned their state into a politically correct multicultural entitlement state that mandates heavy spending, brutalizes small business, and coddles criminals and their defense lawyers. In the process, they drove middle class taxpayers from the private sector out of the state, while luring people who tend to receive government benefits. The political result was a complete victory for liberal governance. But in achieving this, they missed one thinig- Republican voters provide a larger share of tax revenues that Democrat voters do. The end result is a structural budget deficit with no solution in sight.

What’s the problem? Just raise taxes by 22%. So simple.

My county got a $20,000 bill for fees for a permit for landfill operation from the (CA) regional water quality control board. This was a huge jump, so it was questioned. They said that their budgets had been cut by the state legislature, so they were passing on the costs in higher fees.

Counties always have to justify any increase in fees by proving that they are not in excess of the actual cost of the services performed. Apparently, the state agencies don’t have those limitations and can pass along any budgetary shortfalls in their fees. No wonder businesses are going broke.

They should simply tax movie and TV production companies, theme parks and child molesters to make up the difference.

California Governor Jerry Brown’s answer to the State’s failing economy and crumbling tax revenue is to place a $6 billion tax increase initiative on the ballot to support K-12 public schools. He promises to only “temporarily” raise personal income rates by 25% on any of the rich folk who haven’t already left.

Who remembers the perpetual money tree that was supposed to pay big bucks into education, called the California Lotto?
