White House Press Secretary Jay Carney retracted his suggestion yesterday that Newt Gingrich "is lying" when he says that a change in energy policy could lower gas prices to $2.50 a gallon.
"I shouldn't have gone to motivations," Carney told reporters during the press briefing. "I should have said that anybody who said that doesn't know what he's talking about."
Carney was moderating a barely-veiled attack on Gingrich. "What [President Obama] is not willing to do is to look the American people in the eye and claim that there is a strategy by which he can guarantee the price of gas will be $2.50 at the pump," Carney said yesterday. "Any politician who does that is lying." Gingrich has built his campaign in recent weeks around energy policy proposals that he says would lower gas prices to $2.50 a gallon.
On Fox and Friends this morning, Gingrich said he did not want to debate Obama's "spokesman," but offered to debate energy policy with the president "in any gas station."
Much better. Newt isn’t a liar he’s just stupid.
Barry has the distinction of hiring the two most obnoxious press secretaries in history.
Even as the “One” forced his signature legislation through precisely by lying about the eventual costs and the anticipated savings.
Somebody’s living in obama’s head rent free, heat, hot water and utilities included, small pets welcomed and with on-site parking!
The average John Q. Public voter don't really know nothing about GDP, New home sales, Leading indicators and all that other economics crap.
But they know every time they look at that gas pump whether that gas is taking more out of their pockets or not. Fill up nowadays and there goes dinners out for the month or starbucks for the month or the trip home for the holidays.
They'd vote for it but the RP won't use it against the DP. They don't have the guts.
Sorry
Actually, Obama has a secret plan to give us $2.50 gas if he is re-elected: he will mandate that gas be sold by the liter.
“””White House Press Secretary Jay Carney retracted his suggestion yesterday that Newt Gingrich “is lying” when he says that a change in energy policy could lower gas prices to $2.50 a gallon.””””
The average price was $1.84 when hussein was elected dictator. The average is now $3.80. Clearly it is W’s fault.
If Obummers poll numbers dip down into the 30’s look for gas stamps to be handed out along with food stamps.
I've been saying that for months.
Just authorize a couple hundred billion more Baraqqi/Bernanke minibucks and load those EBT cards for November!
He didn’t retract squat. Actually, he called him a liar again!
I’m just amazed he can find anyone to do the job. Just standing up there to spout that nonsense without cracking up would do in most people.
