More than half of Republicans nationwide (53%) say that all members of the current field of GOP presidential candidates should stay in the race until one clinches the nomination. About one-fifth (21%) say that Newt Gingrich should drop out, leaving Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum to compete for the nomination, while another fifth (20%) say all candidates but Romney should drop out, allowing Romney to focus on the general election campaign.....
Some Santorum supporters have argued that Gingrich should drop out, saying that Santorum alone would have a better chance of consolidating the conservative GOP vote that has thus far not heavily supported Romney. Romney's supporters, on the other hand, argue that Romney will almost certainly amass the needed number of delegates to win the nomination as the primary and caucus process plays out, and that concessions by the other candidates now will allow the party to turn its focus to the defeat of Barack Obama in November.

Most of these yapping poodles are here on FR. ;^)
Does it look like he is going to drop out?
If you’re in the market for a new sweater vest I heard they’ll be on for half price in Mississippi and Alabama tomorrow morning.
Sorry. I usually try to resist taking cheap shots, but every once in awhile I have to indulge :)
Just heard “Coach” Kevin Collins talking about this issue. Says the fact that there is not a Republican candidate named is killing Obama fundraising efforts, because there is not “target” to demonize. Kevin said that the longer this horse race continues the worse it is for Obama and the Left. Good point.
That may help you understand the perspective and position of those who are asking Newt to drop out.
Gingrich stays on, sets sights on Illinois, Wisconsin, Texas, California
Go Newt
In 2008 the Republicans declared a “winner” early (McCain), and the Democrats declared a winner late (Obama).
How’d that work out for us...?
I’ve been hearing this “we have to wrap this up quickly” stuff since Bush ran in the primary in 2000. It usually comes from the party establishment.
That (nominee in 2000) wasn’t a good result and I trust the establishment even less today.
I got bit by a poodle once. I ignored it to my regret.
We need to let the candidates duke it out until there is only 1 left standing. Every voter in every state deserves their say. Why is it necessary for the media talking heads and their country-club Republican bootlickers to crown one of their own boys early? Because they want to make things go their way - which is business as usual. In times past people didn’t care enough to get involved, so they got away with this. There is much more at stake now and people are paying attention and they don’t like what they see, that Romney is the Republican version of Obama. Because Romney is a rich Fat-Cat Republican out of touch with ordinary folks that are struggling, Obama could eat him for lunch.
Was there an option for Romney dropping out?
My hope is no nominee clinches if Newt can’t. Then, the convention can come up with s surprise candidate that sends the Obama team scrambling.
My nightmare is the crazy old coot goes into the convention and pledges his delegates to Romney if Rand Paul gets the bottom of the ticket.
Hold off, they now come in long sleeve and they’re on sale.
