Notice that Rick Santorum seems to be quoting and citing Ronald Reagan more than ever? In fact, Reagan has expressed his support for Newt before and now,in spirit, through his son Michael Reagan's endorsement.

Newt made the better, more specific speech.

I guess I could live with Ricky, but why go there when we can have a proven leader and change agent like Newt Gingrich?!? * Contract with America * Balanced Budgets * Welfare Reform * Helped end the Cold War * The 90’s Boom, etc!

If people would pay attention and research, they would be able to see the best candidate. You would think after having the gift of Obama, they might choose to investigate a little more instead of relying on the media to spoon feed them their answers. I guess in the time of free lunches and frickin’ free everything under the sun, it’s too much to ask them to think TOO! So fed up with having to live with MORONS in this country. I see/hear non-thinking everywhere. I’ve got someone on Facebook that actually thinks the government should supply gas stamps like they do food stamps. I really want to yank my hair out. Then a second one posting an Al Franken piece about birth control and how he is so “logical”. Then another one on FB complaining about “pink slime” in kids’ lunches all across the country. And how those kids have to eat TWO times a day at school. First off, I’ve never seen hamburger meat in breakfast meals at school. Secondly, I’ve never seen hamburger meat offered five times a week. Thirdly, it’s pretty damn pathetic when it’s too much to ask parents to feed their offspring if they are unhappy with the choices at school. When it comes to a point in this country when people have to decide if they want bark or grass for lunch, we are going to be wishing for the good old days of pink slime!

Prayers for Newt.

Yes, that bothers me that Rick is saying he is the true Reagan conservative in the race. What does it say; he completely ignores Newt's historical ties to President Reagan.

The little editorialization in parentheses after the article, should be revised to perhaps say "2 Undecideds Interviewed Came Away for Gingrich". Rather than the more vague, patently hopeful and clearly unquantifiable "(Undecideds Breaking for Newt)" (sic). Fact is, we don't know if there were also two undecideds who came away for Santorum and were not interviewed--and thus cancelled things out. We don't know if there were 10 undecideds who switched to Gingrich OR Santorum at this event. From what I can tell, there was no objective, verifiable poll taken at all, such as an entrance and an exit poll, or a straw poll for this manner. Therefore the title has misleading editorializing ("bandwagon effect") attached to it, but for the sake of accuracy I question it's appropriateness within the larger context of the meeting and the article shown here.

"Wikipedia: Literally, a bandwagon is a wagon which carries the band in a parade, circus or other entertainment.[6] The phrase "jump on the bandwagon" first appeared in American politics in 1848 when Dan Rice, a famous and popular circus clown of the time, used his bandwagon and its music to gain attention for his political campaign appearances. As his campaign became more successful, other politicians strove for a seat on the bandwagon, hoping to be associated with his success. Later, during the time of William Jennings Bryan's 1900 presidential campaign, bandwagons had become standard in campaigns,[7] and "jump on the bandwagon" was used as a derogatory term, implying that people were associating themselves with the success without considering what they associated themselves with..."

That is sick and actually borders on deplorable.

I would not go there with that kind of logic and imagery. How about letting the man alone in his grave? He is passed on now, and he did not endorse anyone for the 2012 election the last I heard. Just as easily, you could bring up whom Ron Jr. or Nancy Reagan are going to support. Can we just leave our best, and departed, President out of this (believe me, you will open a whole can of late 70s/early 1980s somewhat ugly Capitol Hill insider worms if you insist on "going there", bring the President Reagan-Congressman Gingrich dynamic into this thing.

It will be a tragedy if either Newt or Romney win the primaries tomorrow. A vote for Newt is a vote for Romney. There is NO WAY that Newt can win the nomination now, under any circumstances, and I don’t believe that there is a single person here who doesn’t know that in their hearts. If Newt wins, celebrate at Romney HQ tomorrow night. Bob

Photoshopping fake endorsements by Ronald Reagan should be universally condemned on this site.

You got a quote from ROnald Reagan “expressing his support for Newt”? Clearly not in the context of THIS century’s Newt Gingrich and his run for the Presidency. But anything else?

Michael Reagan is a good man, but can hardly speak to the dead, nor pass their endorsements on for the living.

"You need to look to a leader that believes in you, and that's where I lie," Santorum said.

Oooooooooh!

Yo, Diogenes - does this make Ricky an honest politician?

LOL

For someone who attacked Romney as thinking he's "God's chosen candidate," Santorum's pitch was focused on religion rather than the issues.

Last night he claimed ObamaCare was the "game changer" that lead him to run but he'd endorsed its spiritual father, Romney, in 2008. He propped up the ObamaCare deciding vote, Specter, in the prior election saying, among other things, "he's with us on the votes that matter."

He's never come clean about his own push for requiring individuals to have health insurance as a congressman in 1992 or in his 1994 senate race, instead denying he was ever "tainted" by the issue while claiming he alone is "honest with the American People."
