You're quoting Newt now. Not very long ago Newt was, as Rick correctly points out, on the other side of the issue. In fact Rick is understating the truth! Newt was enthusiastically promoting individual mandates, and government mandated big business models for health care, for many years, up until roughly when Obamacare was passed and Newt announced he was running for President. At which time he flipped but wants all to ignore it. He only wants us to remember him in Congress, but unlike Obama the MSM won't stonewall Newt's past.

Not only was Newt in favor of health care mandates he FOUNDED the Center for Healthcare Transformation in 1999, an outfit headquartered in DC, with IIRC two floors of staff, all working essentially to promote something like Obamacare. Note their url: www.gingrichgroup.com, this is essentially Newt, Inc. I attended one of Newt's presentations on this four years ago. He was pushing the same kind of material as Romney and Obama on the subject, but his presentation was better organized and delivered than anything I've seen from them. No doubt, Newt is smart! He was scary smart - I just wish I could say 'scary good' - that day.

Newt just flipped a switch and said his past twelve years were a mistake. Few realize it. Be assured Obama would find enough of video on the subject to make John Kerry seem steadfast by comparison. We'd be seeing the shellshocked Newt of the final FL debate again. At least Mitt's been hemming and hawing about health care for four years, the public is used to his hypocrisy . I'm sure Romney's machine has similar Newt videos, but can't figure out how to play them without drawing unwanted attention to Romneycare. Mitt did mention in one debate that he got the idea for Romneycare in part from Newt, which is sadly true.

Obama and his MSM allies may or may not be able to con the public that the economy is getting better and remove that issue. FDR pulled it off, twice, and Obama intends to try. But Obamacare is an open sore the public detests enough to bring him down, if the GOP will just attack it. Obama's only hope is we'll run a candidate who can't, either Mitt or Newt. If either is our nominee Obama won't even have to lie, he'll just run commercials of them endorsing his position. Only Rick can nail him on that issue. Obama hitting Rick on social issues deepens the color of already red and blue states, but won't trump a clear attack on Obamacare in the purple ones where the race will be decided. Voters there may be unsure on Rick's social issues, but they are sure on Obamacare and will vote the imminent issue over the hypothetical one.

Only Rick can nail him on that issue.

Bull!! When he campaigned for Romneycare - shoving it down the voters throats saying he's the best candidate for us in '08.

He doesn't have a leg to stand on with someone who will take him to task. Will he say that he was 'doing for the team' again? What else can he say? He can't nail anyone on it.

What I am NOT doing is setting conservatives against one another.

I know all about Gingrich. Did you know that Winston Churchill changed between Conservative to Liberal and back again? That Sir Winston was called ‘mad’ by his contemporaries? Idea people are like that, especially when they have a decades long record for us to peruse.

How many Republican candidates running this election cycle have any record of altering Congress? Only one.

How many Republican candidates running this election cycle have balanced budgets and slashed spending? We both know the answer.

The 1998 budget was scheduled for a $1 Billion cut and congress saw the gravy train leaving the station. No more getting rich at the public’s expense. No more cutting deals with big donors for pushing legislation containing contracts, all for big $$ later - a Santorum specialty.

So it became “get rid of Newt Gingrich” even to the extent of manufacturing lies about him. Santorum was one of the long knives, you know. Those phony ethics charges that were ALL dropped, but the media continues to smear him year after year after year.

And now, older and wiser, Newt is back. And the corrupt in Washington, D.C., those feeding on the corpse of Uncle Sam, are AGAIN trying to save the status quo.

There is only one person Obama fears in this political race: it is Gingrich. Newt had BHO2 so riled over the oil drilling speech, BHO2 was blubbering about algae!

Newt Gingrich is speaking about specific remedies to the $16 TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT this nation is facing. Romney and Santorum? Crickets.

You write well, JohnBovenmyer, but you have the odor of an establishment apologist. Particularly when you slam Sarah Palin.
