There was an overflow crowd greeting Newt Gingrich when he arrived at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in the southeast corner of Alabama on Saturday.
Looking over the hundreds of people packed into the gallery area and spilling down the steps in the main lobby, Gingrich enthused, "What a crowd. I'm really impressed. There must be no one left at Wal-Mart this afternoon."

There must be nobody home having grits and hawg jowls.
egads!
I agree.
But it's the voters that have to do it. And voters will do as they will.
“That’s about as condescending as the line “why don’t you go deep-fry something” from the movie Sweet Home Alabama”
Guess you’ve never been to Dothan..........my guess it’s a line from Newt that got a lot of applause
Yeah, all us regular joes have 500 thousand dollar shopping sprees a Tiffanys. LOL
If he wants to raise the issue of global warming through Pelosi, that’s fair.
Using Pelosi on the couch as an innuendo to obliquely reference Newt’s past marital problems is classless.
I don't see how this remark is going to help him. Given that he was wearing a BASS shirt and had gotten the fishing props, he would have been better served if he had said something like "Wow, the lakes must all be empty today."
Instead, he was "impressed" that the 'pervasive' Walmart shopping "activity" was temporarily put on the back burner.
And I don't think Calista shops there....
Just...doesn't...sound...good.
Wow never thought I’d hear such arrogance on FR. I expect this kind of disdain from DU but not here. I shop at Walmart all the time. I appreciate having a place I can shop with lower prices on those items I’d have to pay more for at another store. Why should I pay $129 for the same Mr. Coffee coffeemaker I can get at Walmart for $79. Leaves me money for grits...which I also love!

Everytime he spouts off some silly sh!t like this it remind me of the kid we used to pants in the main hall of the middle school.
It just makes you want to slap him like a girl.
Of course effeminate men can't spot this and don't understand what we're talking about.
Worse! He’s the kid who reminds the teacher that she forgot to assign homework!
If, God forbid, Romney is the nominee, he will not win the general and not just because he won't get my vote. Look around here at F.R. and see how many say they'll never vote for Romney. Some because he's mormon, some because he's a lying back stabbing liberal and some, like me for both reasons.
It isn't just F.R. denizens either, I talk to lots of people, ordinarily republican voters, who say they will never vote for Romney.

Me thinks you are projecting....only liberals or Yankees think all Wal-mart shoppers are dumb hicks
Why...sheesh all this snobbery from FR. Some of you are acting like shopping at Walmart is a bad thing. Many families go shopping on Saturday. Instead they chose to go listen to Newt speak.

Now the little church lady Sanctamonious wants to be the moral judge on Newt..he is not worthy enough to shine Newt's shoes
In my town everyone goes to Wallmart. Its like the Px on an Army post. See the Ltc’s wife dressed in jeans and comparing fruit with the sergeants wife.
That is the truth.
Something about him just gives me the creeps.
I’m tired of hearing about his home schooled kids also. He must think this gives him an edge and it might with the voters he is performing for now, but in the general, forget it. There are quite a few people out here who are going to find it offensive. Actually, there are quite a few people out here, not in his target voters, that find him offensive in everything. PERIOD.
I think you *stepped in it*, l. I’ve only been here a week and I’m already wearing hip-waders. LOL.
It’s worse than that. This guy is purportedly a personal friend, he knows Calista and Newt.
Obama, Romney, no one— would stoop this low.
I wasn’t talking about Walmart. LOL I just spent a hundred bucks there today.
??????????????????
If I’m not mistaken, Larry the Cable Guy uses that line at his appearances.
